10 Mind-Blowing Facts about Texas. Amazing Texas.

😍

— @GeoPoneglyph

Texas is one of the United States' best states. I am a firm believer in that.

From its amazing cities like Dallas, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, to its amazing small towns out in west Texas.

Nòoooooo … we don’t want anymore people!
Fix your own state … don’t come ruin ours!

Gotta take issue on #4. Texas may have more tornadoes than Kansas but it's also bigger in area by a lot... A lot a lot. Take any Kansas-sized part of Texas and it may have about as many twisters per area. But when one is headed straight for you it really doesn't make any difference who holds the record.

Some additional info. helium was a critical element for the WW 2 effort, with a vast, natural, easily accessible source that is near Amarillo. Also Permian Basin high schools (in west Texas, not far west Texas) had a nicer workout/ weight lifting rooms than the Dallas Cowboys until possibly the late 80's.

We always like to remind our non-native "friends" that they came here as refugees, not missionaries. Fun fact ... Texas is divided into 254 counties ... more than any other state. And it's not true that we're the only state that can fly our flag at the same height as the US Flag ... all states can ... we just do ... that's pride.

Dish Texas is just following in the footsteps of Truth or Consequences New Mexico (a town named after a 1950 radio program!).

C19 was not natural.
I drove thru tornado alley in Midwest every week for a year, heard warnings but never saw a tornado😏 guess I should be grateful?
Halloween is religious, All Souls Day, Nov 1 is All Saints Day.
The South Eastern States do have a lot of very big people, restaurants there serve several courses, I kept an electric cooler and had those left over the rest of my 4 day trip home from Tulsa to Edmonton.

If you had a puzzle of the U.S. and put a hinge on El Paso (Far West Texas) then flipped it open, like opening a page, the East side of Texas (Texarkana) would land in the Pacific Ocean. If you did the same hinge on the east border of Texas, then El Paso would end up in the Atlantic Ocean.

Graduated HS in San Antonio 1963 and retired in 2014 from work in medical field in California. Moved to Austin to be near family and 10 months later moved back to California. It seems that the home of the KKK and Red Neck ignorance is so prevalent in Texas could not ignore the stupidity. Archaic health care (Abortion prohibition), permitless gun carry, and the casual use of the N word drove me back to California. Im living cheaper than I could in Austin and the property taxes far ourweigh the "no sales tax in Texas'. Too many Trump supporters for me to tolerate. Low education in Texas, Oklahoma and the South in general is supported by Republicans who keep their constituents dumb so they can manipulate the masses in the South.

Love the Thumbnail: Mom was born near there, over a Billion barrels of oil pumped out of this land (deep honey color, quite beautiful) and we were not spoiled by any of the wealth it brought, Peace3ed

My son, a Texan, lived in the Tacoma, WA area for work, for about 3 years. I went to visit him and his wife while he was there. We were leaving a Starbucks by the Seattle fish market and my son held the door open for the people coming out behind us. They were shocked by this simple act of kindness and said "Wow, you aren't from here are you?" To which my son said, "no, we're from Texas."

My extended family that I don't know well due to being an Air Force brat and veteran are from the Denton and Decatur areas, and I have never heard of Dish, Texas.

Now, I have lived in Amarillo for at least 35 years at least except for during my Air Force hitch during Gulf War times. We do have a lot of tornadoes here, and I think we don't take them seriously even if there are 24 on the ground at once. Perhaps they've become routine. They'll see whole towns be demolished, and they're like, "that sucks" and usually the town does but not always.

Anyway, instead of taking cover, many times TX panhandle residents just go out and watch from the porch.

I love Texas I lived in Midland for about three years back in the 80s plus my mother lived in Salado which is about an hour north of Austin. The thing I hate to see is Austin is getting ruined by who? Liberals of course.

Halloween is a religious holiday from the Celtic from Ireland. For them to put it on November 1st which is All Saints Day is disrespectful
