I had taken a street cat that i have been feeding every day for the last 7 months.. then i take her home and tried to give her a shower it was hell after this she NEVER sits with me never comes to me always wants just food. When i head bonked my cat for the first time he reciprocated and made a thrill that sounded like an awwww. no kidding. he really sounded like that and melted . now after almost 3 months adopted, he even gives me nose kisses. he really trusts me and im really happy about it. i did all this naturally but mimicking. thats the only thing i dont do. but my cat is kind of quiet. he usually purr thrills/chirps and silent/ high pitched meows only. My favorite is his special coo coo sound thats like a type of thrill i guess but sounds like a dove / pigeon. he extremely rarely meows like demanding or loudly, which im also happy about :). @whiskerwisdom271My kitty is pretty much my shadow and acts more like a dog than a cat at times. She does all those things- the kneading, slow blinking, head bunting, purring, etc. In addition to that I’ve been able to train her to do tricks such as “high 5, lay down, paw shake, & come”. @nyxrcscould not have some stilton and port without sharing it with the cat. Me a bit of stilton, cat a bit of stilton. me a sip of port, cat a drop of port on the tip of one of my fingers. I think he did it to copy me and share my food, rather than because he liked stilton cheese and port. He never offered to share his food, thankfully.

@princessEA7My Bengal and I have long conversations. He starts by chatty meows and I meow back. He started to learn the sounds of words when he was only 8 months old when he learned "wa-wa" meant "water". I turned on the tap or played a game of Mum pours water from a bottle into a glass so he could drink from the fresh dribble. He drank much longer from the bottle game than from the tap. I am very loved by this little boy! ❤️

@BrubberPiyker-OnlineI’m so glad you explained the head bonking. I’ve been feeding a feral cat daily for some time. When he was comfortable under foot while I filled his food bowl, I decided I would reach down and pet him one day. He looked up really surprised, but did not move away.
Gradually, he came to trust me and to let me pet him, and really enjoys it now. However, I didn’t understand why as I’d reach to pet him, he would rise up on his hind legs to meet my hand and push up firmly into the pet. He does this repeatedly and really enjoys it. The head butting explanation makes perfect sense now. I believe this is what he’s doing.
He is so gentle and so sweet. Sometimes he turns upside down belly up when petted. I was afraid to touch his belly initially, but after he did this repeatedly I decided to gently pet him there and he did like it, so I believe this is an invitation. I’ve never tried to pick him up. I think that might scare him, but maybe one day he will allow that too.
Who in their right mind would stop head bumps? It’s the cutest.

I've treated him exactly the same since he was tiny kitten. He purrs, goes I to kneading mode and will head bunt me while I smother him. When I had my first cat, I made so many mistakes. My idea of love was to suffocate him with cuddles and, to be fair to him, despite being a big, strong independent male, he took it.
It was only as he got older I learned my mistakes and I done my best to show him how much incense him.
When he took unwell and had to be put to sleep, I was not only devastated at losing my best friend but that I didn’t have the time to make it up to him and say sorry. After the initial shock of a cold injection, he climbed into my arms and we hugged each other until he passed. That was 8 years ago and still to this day, even now as I type this as a 49 years ago old man who has never cried Vera person or at anything else apart from his death , I still weep like a child at losing him.
That last cuddle felt like understanding. Like he was saying ‘I’m scared but everything will be ok’ but I’m never sure enough - I’m so fearful that everything I got wrong made him miserable.
I swore no more pets at his passing -I just can’t cope with the loss - but not having the heart to remove the cat flap means 4 cats came in and never left. One has become inseparable from me, sleeping on my bed, never being more than a few feet from me: I’m doing my best to make up for the errors I made with my baby boy, my special little guy, but I can’t help worrying I’ve done it all wrong

I started doing a couple of these without expecting much, and the difference surprised me. My cat became calmer, more affectionate, and started choosing to stay closer. It really shows how much they understand when we speak their language 🐾💙
