In this video, our native English speakers will say each word, and then our native Brazilian Portuguese speakers will repeat the word in Portuguese. You can play this video in the background and learn just by listening. Watching and listening to native Portuguese speakers is the fastest way to learn Portuguese, so use this Portuguese words lesson to start learning Portuguese vocabulary fast.
There are a few words with o/a endings in this video. When you say “thank you” in Portuguese, the gender of the word should match the gender of the speaker. In this case, she says “Obrigada” while a male would say “Obrigado.” For “friend”, the gender of the word should match the gender of the friend. A male friend would be “amigo”, while a female friend would be “amiga.”
Check the comments section for an explanation about the gendered Portuguese words that end in o/a.
