When spring returns in Alaska we make good use of the warmer weather and longer daylight hours. After returning from a quick trip to Canada for our new SpaceKap, we get the garden planted early and head out on the boat for the first excursion of the season.

This is also the time of year to use up the last of our produce stored in the crawlspace and make more room in the freezer. Teriyaki Caribou jerky goes onto the smoker between outings on the atv and tending to the garden. We fire up the barrel stove in the greenhouse for the first time and it proved to be well worth its weight in gold for protecting the plants from late season frosts.
