03:23 How’s best to test these bikes?
I'd be more enthusiastic about riding the $150 one instead of the $15000 one. Am I weird?

The peugeot still looks way bettet though
07:13 How much do these bikes weigh?
08:46 Test 2: Time Trial
The absurd thing is that most bikes still get produced in china.....the markups are absolutely insane.
But to be fair the target audience is also not big so it kinda makes sense.
I ride EUCs and the Upper price range is around 5k but for 5k you get absolute monsters.... basically small motorcycles with lots of cool technology.
Paying 15k for a bike is just insane... especially because at some point the main price factor is just weight
10:53 Test 3: Sprint
11:36 Final results!
Everything above 2k or so is not really needed but nice to have.
If you actually feel the difference you are probably in the upper 1% of the 1% of all riders.
12:58 Is the superbike worth it?
14:25 What’s the sweet spot for price vs performance?
I got a bike for 20 pounds with chain ripped, fixed it at the store for 25 pounds. Best one ever. Why do they have a difficulty sourcing a bike for 150£? There’s plenty of options in fb marketplace for way cheaper lol. They get stolen in london anyways so I wouldn’t want to spend more than 50 for a bike tbf

You missed a really important performance test. One I suspect the Peugeot would have won. Ride to the supermarket, leave the bike outside unlocked, buy some beer and ride home. I suspect you would be walking home on the fancy bikes.

I still ended up with a 40 year old bike.
I didn't think this thru....
I don't know where you guys found the Treviso for 1500 quid, but I'm already there.
I pick up the bike tomorrow. I'll let you know how wide is my smile, then.

I'm a huge fan, BUT you spend many videos dispatching and disparaging older bikes. I ride steel and aluminum and some of my eleven bikes are very very nice. Of course I don't race, but not all of us want the latest and greatest. I find the new bikes horrific in appearance. Just my two quid..

No one can tell me a bicycle truly costs more to manufacture and supply than any car or any motorbike. Just pure garbage. Just stupid captive audience.

If you buy any bike over 5k the bike manufacturer is laughing his ass off at how stupid you are...bikes are priced according to how stupid bike manufacturers think buyers are....fact.

If you're spending $15,000 vs $150 dollars on a bicycle (100 times more money)to be only 10 seconds faster? You need to get your head examined, you probably drank a little too much of the TikTok infomercial cool aid 👌

I would like to point out that the price difference between cheap bike and mid level bike is roughly 1k and between mid level and top tier is 14k. And the performance difference was LARGER between cheap bike and mid level bike. There seems to be a sweet spot at around 2k for most bang for the buck bike. After that the improvements are measurable but tiny. I'd be surprised if you could measure a significant difference between a 2k bike and a 3k/4k/5k bike.
Video Idea: a "Entry level bike Test" starting at 1k and jumping up 2k until 10k - 5 bikes or so.

STI shifters and a triple chain ring will help the cheap bike a lot.
Or even a 12-32 8 speed cog and a 50 34 double chain ring.
I sold a ten year old CF bike with Ultegra 10 speed components and a triple chain ring for $650. That was quite a nice bike...18lbs.

Cool video. The mid-range AND the super-bike are ridiculous choices for me. I'd take a bike like that Peugeot, rip everything off the frame, black it out, and put a straight bar on it, go to a single front sprocket and put an Alfine-8 hub in it with gator skin tires in Alex rims. Then, I'd beat hell out of it on the city streets, jumping curbs and being chased by dogs. Then, after putting a few thousand clicks on it, I'd sell it for a small loss and do it all over again. I can't stand derailleurs. Even spelling the word grosses me out. :)

The Peugeot is so classic. "Steel is Real" and has a great ride quality. But for most people 50 and over, the black Pinarello is the absolute "Sweet spot". Anything more than ~$1500 and your really not getting anything more for your money. I'm old enough to remember when the black carbon Pinarello shown here was considered top of the line. I'm also the only person I know, who actually cares where my bike was made. The Canyon may be very expensive, but its just another bike from Taiwan. If your going to spend exorbitant amounts, then get something that's custom made here in the US or Italy. Thank you.

The thing is..if you know that this is a expensive high tech bike, maybe this will influence your behavior. You‘ll automatically be more motivatet to push yourself further then on a cheap bike. Especially when you a experienced cyclist. Does anyone agree?

A few years ago i bought a Decathlon Btwinn alu frame road bike with carbon fork, 3x9 drivetrain, brifters for 50 euros, the freewheel was f*cked, i got a replacement wheel with matching cassete for 50 euros, ridiculously fast, sharp handling bike for 100 euros ! It actually reminded me of my 1978 made to measure Mercian with superlight Reynolds tubing & campag sr - i would love to rebuild a Mercian frame with modern groupset, wheels, etc (original sadly stolen), but it is perfectly possible to get a decently useable road bike for under 500 euros. For 15000 euros/£/dollars i could buy a camper, full workshop quality toolset, & f*ckoff full sus xc mtb as here in Ireland i find road biking too dangerous 😕

Just saying you can gat a better bike than that for 150…
@fullsendmountainbiker5844100 lb for me.
@ThugginGame-sb3duIf your riding for pleasure, your spending a lot of money to get to rob yourself of a few seconds pedaling to the cafe stops.
Get a nice retro bike and it will get more attention than the 15k bike too.
My neighbor was in 3 Olympics back in the 60s. All he rides is vintage steel and he does it every day. Price doesn’t matter. Riding is what matters. If $150 gets you on the road then that is the right bike.
@whpaintingwhen the race is 3 hrs, I believe it would be a big different
@renfengqqThe wahoo powermeter pedals on the Peugeot are around 8 times the price of the bike itself
@Man_searched_by_italyDo the Math, the gains ARE MARGINAL.
@jdc1957$500 wife won’t be upset. $1,500 she’ll ask for a kitchen remodel. $15,000 you’re now single, unless you buy her a Taj Mahal... That’s the difference.
@EatMyPropwashStop copying top gear
@ammarecho7153Spent less than 500 EUR on my Giant TCR 2010 with the 105 set and weight around 8.8 kg back in 2021. Sounds like I found even a better price-performance balance ;)
