20 Useless Pokémon Facts

After looking through random pieces of trivia about the Pokémon franchise, I’ve realised a lot of facts about Pokémon are, more or less completely useless pieces of knowledge that won’t ever come up in your everyday life. Kind of like algebra. So I decided to share 20 of them!

It’s now common knowledge that Mew isn’t actually under the truck… But what if it IS the truck? It gets Transform without Sketch, being the only one to do so where it’s not the Pokémon’s entire gimmick (Ditto suffers from crippling overspecialization and can’t learn anything BUT Transform, at least in its true form)

Houndour and houndoom are the ONLY regular pokemon that can be obtained in only one of the four gen 6 games with the rest being all legendaries(xerneas, yveltal, ho-oh, lugia, palkia, dialga, reshiram, zekrom, tornadus and thundurus).
This does count the friend safari in x and y which makes pokemon like swirlix obtainable in more than one game.
This also doesn't include events(and even if it did, the mythical pokemon would still be obtainable without trade or transfer in all four games).

...why exactly were they not retconned to Psychic/Fairy?
Also, Jigglypuff's original name being Pudding is actually a direct translation of its Japanese name Purin.
Doubt this will be seen in a 5 year old comment section, but I remember the first pokemon movie being so big that my school hired a projector and got the film somehow and done a screening at my school, we had to pay for tickets etc, was cheaper then the cinemas and went with all my friends! It was so damn cool!
P.s. Blows my mind that I have memories that are nearly 25 years old now 😅
The reason new comes later in the Pokédex than mewtwo is because new was added when there was a small bit of cartridge space and the designer added it for fun

@thenativegamer443I know this is an old video, but I wanted to add on to 11:38 by saying that there is a prehistoric reptile named Bulbasaurus (named after Bulbasaur) from modern-day South Africa. Similar to Bulbasaur, it shares the suffix of “saur/us” like a dinosaur, but isn’t actually a dinosaur. (Dinosaurs have legs directly under them.) Technically, the person who names the species claims it isn’t directly named after Bulbasaur, however they said “similarities between this species and certain other squat, tusked quadrupeds may not be entirely coincidental”
