South Africa's 2026 tax filing season has officially opened and commenced with the auto assessment period. It is expected to continue until the 12th of July.

The Auto Assessment period will be followed by the broader filing period, from 13 July to 23 October 2026, for provisional and non-provisional taxpayers who must submit returns.
The South African Revenue Service has introduced capacity upgrades to its systems to handle high volumes of users, including a virtual waiting room on eFiling as well as upgrades to the SARS MobiApp.
