Great video. To me is about committing to the character , you live that character and their situation. Youre not you anymore, youre someone else

It's called emotional memory recall: I LOVE using this method. It's basically a safer version of method acting where you think of a real memory that has a similar emotion to the one in the scene and live back in that moment emotionally. That way you are truly feeling what the character is feeling. ❤🎉

This is very good and makes a lot of sense. I am acting in a spec commercial where I need to cry. I don’t have a lot of acting experience and definitely not involving sad emotions. My character lost her husband. My real life husband wanted me to try it out and just cry on commend. No matter how hard I was thinking about him dying, nothing would happen. So then we rehearsed the actual scene, with the dialogue.. and doing the action triggered real emotions in me and I was able to picture my husband dying, and my reaction to it was very real and I managed to cry! It was amazing! It works haha!

i’m a 15 year old kid who’s never acted but it’s always been my dream to act and when i was 11 i tried to start acting but i was told i wasn’t good enough to be on camera or stage and that hardened me made me quit acting for a while and here recently as im getting closer and closer to adulthood ive found that id like to try this and videos like these and acting out scenes alone in my room really help even though i suck right now im taking notes and genuinely trying to learn to get better at acting (my childhood dream)

Script itself is not going to move you. As a screenwriter, this is why I hate production scripts. Within action directives, I often write to MOVE a reader. I write my script action parts like you'd read in a novel and for the life of me I don't understand why we have to cut shit down to bare bones.

When you're in your head, you're dead. My biggest obstacle has been my mind in acting

I have some years doing theatre as an actor, director. Then film school then directing, producing.
The way i approach this craft is to make the material mine. Put yourself in the character. Get a good back story. Spend time living with that back story. Believe it is you. Create that world in your head. Then spend time alone. It's not a part of a role, is your life. When you condition your heart and mind to belive it, you become it. Then you can go off script keeping the main premise of the piece in tact. My 30 years of theatre gave me these insights. I am still a student of the arts and humanities. I have used them. They become believable, and the others believe it. It's like telling a lie to save your life. But you must convince the others it's your truth. All the best 👍

I believe it’s about the trust you have in yourself, you need to be okay with being, and understand you’re doing the best for yourself in the moment, when you have this down it’s easy to listen to any state of emotion you need to proceed in and just act it out til it feels raw

@RackMelo-r5g

I think its in the eyes and how to hold that emotion in the eyes. Kevin McKidd did that so well on HBOs Rome.

What's so odd about this is that as an artist I almost see the world around me in the same way.

really enjoyed this video! the tips were super insightful and gave me a new perspective on acting. however, i have to say that while producing real emotion is important, i believe sometimes it's okay to lean into more exaggerated performances for certain scenes. it adds a different kind of depth and can be just as compelling, don't you think?
