4 Ways Families Can Survive Hyatt's New Peak Pricing in 2026

Video Overview & Insights

Is the 2026 Hyatt devaluation ruining your family travel plans?

Could you do a video on the new Bilt 2.0?

— @markm520

Here are 4 travel hacking pivots to keep booking cheap family vacations using IHG, Marriott, Hilton, and Bilt. The "golden era" of Hyatt might be ending. With the recent Hyatt award chart changes, booking affordable hotels for peak holiday vacations or weekend volleyball tournaments has become significantly harder for families. But you don't have to stop traveling.

In this video, I’m sharing four new credit card and point strategies to bypass the Hyatt peak pricing and keep your family trips affordable.

Thanks for the updates, Dad. I will probably stick with Hyatt mostly as I still think the points redemptions would still be worth it. I do like the IHG and Hilton programs as back ups though especially with free night certificates

— @pyrotfboba

What you’ll learn in this video:

The IHG Backup Plan: How to use IHG Rewards as a safety net. Learn the math behind buying points during 0.5¢ promos and using the IHG credit card's 4th-night-free perk to save on longer tournament stays.

Just a heads up since I made this mistake before: you need the IHG card from Chase to be able to use 4th night free.

— @SleepyRod

Maximizing Marriott Certificates: How to unlock luxury stays using Marriott Bonvoy free-night certificates, plus a breakdown of the new "top off" feature that lets you add up to 25,000 points.

Hilton's Uncapped Free Nights: Why pursuing Hilton Honors uncapped Free Night Awards via co-branded cards (like the Surpass or Aspire) is the ultimate cheat code for aspirational family properties.

As a Dad that travels during school vacs. and occasional competition sports, I agree - need to diversify. Hilton program is not for us. Racking $600 AF cards feels insane but work for some. For us Hyatt, IHG, Choice (that is not appealing bc of Citi devaluation + transfer to AA) and occasional Marriott (combo with free nights)

— @yurisbu

The Bilt Card vs. Chase: If you've heavily relied on the Chase Ultimate Rewards ecosystem in the past, see why the $495 Bilt card's 3x earning rate on broad spend might be the perfect replacement to offset Hyatt’s higher redemption costs.

Great video! I'm also in the process of switching over from Hyatt to Hilton, just got the 75k + cert promo. You think we'll finally get a UR transfer bonus to Hyatt?
