Let's talk about stress! We all experience it from time to time. But there are things we can do to relax our body and mind more, and to protect our body and brain from the negative effects of (chronic) stress. So here are my favorite habits!

I highly recommend getting out in nature. There's strong evidence of it's restorative healing effects

I will be referencing this video again as I am approaching a season of transition with my return to work after maternity leave. I enjoy being in nature or just giving myself some space to breathe and clear my mind, but it will be good to have some strategies in place to help me out.

I have also found that keeping your space free of physical clutter can also help with stress. I know that when my desk is cluttered, my mind is also likely all jumbled up and a bit of a mess too.

I also really enjoying baking cookies or meal prepping when I’m feeling a bit stressed. I can listen to a book or music, and focus on the task at hand, then at the end there is a tangible result that I get to eat. Win win!

2 calming habits I have. Firstly, as a part of my morning christian meditation, I will sing to calming christian songs. I am not a singer but this really helps me relax into my meditation. I am sure other faiths have calming music as well. Secondly, I knit. But, what makes my knitting restorative (not stressful or competitive) is that I knit the same, simple, small project over & over again. Just in different colors of 100% cotton yarn. The colors are pleasing to my eye. The feel of the cotton is a good feel. I can carry this small project in my bag/purse. And, I give them away to people which makes me feel good. I think of this small knitting project as functional art. Thank you for Simple Happy Zen.

You are a very good speaker, and such a pleasant voice and manner of talking. That really helps to exude peace. I have one little thot, being an HSP, when I see a title like, 50 ways to; or 25 ways to, that big number gives me shivers. I wonder if anyone else feels that way. If I saw, part one of 50 ways, or the first 10 of 50 ways, I would jump right in. Blessings to you dear one

Love the phone tray idea! I’ve minimalised my phone screen etc and leave my phone in the kitchen for the night, but a designated spot for the day is great as I don’t want to put it in a cupboard.

I think spending time in nature can be a great way to destress. I don't know necessarily the exact reasons, I just find it to be very beautiful and soothing.

People who are here because they found out being stressed/having anxiety actually effects memory and is the equivalent to smoking 5 cigarettes a day.

“If you’re the type of person that likes to listen to things at 2x speed….” …. While I’m listening to her at 2x speed 😬😅 Hard to adjust and slow down when I’m used to watching 2x speed from graduate school! Still recovering from the burnout and stress from then.

I'm currently dealing with a period of debilitating anxiety and panic attacks and the amount of times that tiktok has sent me back into an anxious cycle because of it's content has lead me to distance myself from the app.

I am struggling with how much building they are doing around me. I live in a small town and now it is insane. Building new apartments on every corner, so much construction, people, cars and noise. Bulldozing through hills and nature. I am having a hard time accepting this. It’s happening everywhere and it’s sad.

I used to live the way very close to your recommendations.
And my life was really rather balanced.
Four years ago I went through several serious stresses, my health got seriously destroyed and I still can't recover...

Unfortunately, sometimes you have relatives who demand your constant attention, that is actually absolutely unnecessary, and you can't put them aside on a special tray...
