I can remember as a child in 1976 going to Aunt Mahalia's Cand Store. I have gone there every time in my adult live and always been happy to be there and buy candy. That store is wonderful! I always go to the orginal and not the one in the mall. Makes me feel like a kid again.

I’ve been to this park, stayed in Sevierville last week and I saw the waterfalls, I did see
Elkmont sign and did more research on the town and it was rather sad. Pretty cool the remains of 17-18 houses still stand today. I used to live in Newport in the early 90s but something about the smokie mountains draws me near, can’t explain it.

I can't believe that I've gone to the Smokies all my life and I haven't been to the Roaring Fork Motor Trail. We will go this year. We always went to the Chimney Tops picnic area and then up and over the mountain into Cherokee when I was a kid. Now, my family has picnics at Metcalf Bottoms. The tons of kids in my sister's family like to tube in the river. It has been decades since I have gone through the art district. I'd like to do that this year, also. And it's time to take that trail from the Sugarlands Visitor Center to the waterfall again. It's a very easy trail. It's been a while. Thanks for the reminders.

@rickycastro3210I enjoyed the video but a bunch of those are not in Gatlinburg. Maybe it should be 7 things to do while staying in Gatlinburg or something. Herbert Holt park when you're coming into Gatlinburg is a cool place to check out. Sometimes people see eagles there.

On glades road in arts and crafts community try timber log cabin restaurant! It’s great!! And if you like British style pub the rampant lion… tho it’s probably not to hidden now lol blessings from red neck in Mississippi

@bibib2455I have a love hate relationship with Gatlinburg. In the mid 1980's, I did my undergrad work in a college on the Townsend side of the park. Almost every summer since 2010, I've been driving out from Texas to go to Arrowmont.
Gatlinburg was on track to becoming a fudge-lined hell back when I was in school. (In the interest of fair disclosure, there are many people who claim I won't know fun if it bit me on the ankle.) Back in the day the crowds were probably half what they are now. Then the relative peace of the Arrowmont campus was somewhat degraded when the lift for Anakeesta was run over the old kiln yard and the work-study cabin. So, hearing that some of the old things are still there is good.
I had forgotten about the Greenbriar School. I visited it first back in '72 when we went to TN for my mom's college reunion. I love the Roaring Fork Motor Trail. Wear's Valley is great. But people are finding it. Last couple times I stopped at Elvira's there was a wait.
I hope you haven't given ways all the good secrets. There needs to still be someplace in the park where self-absorbed people aren't taking selfies.
