a simple guide to tumblr for newbies

I was at the time on Tumblr 😭😭😭
I remember i was OBSESSED!! Specially Jelsa, i recall watching edits on YouTube 😂😂 But wheni was most active on Tumblr at the time, was only the Main 4 (Hiccup, Merida, Rapunzel and Jack Frost, don't remember Elsa/Anna)

this was REALLY helpful as a complete noob to tumblr (made my main blog like a few months ago with sporadic posts once in a while). with all these algorithms getting on my nerves i feel i want to try to switch to tumblr since ive always been intimidated by it. THANK YOU!! time to go crazy over my stupid minecraft fanfic on there

I pos art on tumblr and recently uhm i got a couple comments asking about my commisions and to dm then , i go oh YAY its been a year since my last commisions cant wait so a couple of them couldnt dm cause dad ada dun they were bots wtf but i was able to dm one who asked if i could draw animals and then said 'a3 high resoultion , blah blah local printing' i was 25% sure if i did this commison my art would get yoinked id get scammed and my art would be profited off of , shi scary

is it genuinely expected of me to add a tw for self harm scars or was that sarcastic

How would you first gain interaction/become apart of the community? I reblog lots and post some things but my posts are never seen

i feel like this helped a lot. i made my account on a whim 4 or 5 years ago completely clueless and only used it for a bit before completely abandoning it. starting to use it again and this time with the help of an actual guide so thank you for this <3

Hi, tumblr user since 2012 here but i need to warn that if you use a profile pic, don't use your face! That is literally what bots do. Most bots have a photo of a girl as their pic.

Anyways thanks I really needed this lol, I've only ever used Youtube up until this point and despite being fairly computer proficient imo, Tumblr absolutely shattered my comprehension ability for some reason.

Also could you elaborate on the transphobic CEO thing? As a trans woman I had previously heard that the site was mostly accepting.

I do somewhat understand Tumblr etiquette, but i'm not sure of the website's main, goal?, for lack of a better word. Like: Instagram is pictures, life goals, celebtrities; TikTok is "real sht", funny videos, somewhat-whatever-you-want-i-guess. What is Tumblr?

It's so crazy how Tumblr went from a place for me to follow some cool artists on a website a decade ago to being the last bastion of chronological anonymous blogging. There isn't really anything like Tumblr on the internet anymore. Everywhere you look, a site requires you to give up your information and privacy so they can sell you ads. While Tumblr has ads, they've always been weird and incoherent, completely devoid of propaganda to a specific demographic - and I think that's great.

I've been on this 'hellite' (affectionate) for 12 years as of a week ago. I've been super happy just reblogging art and politics in my little corner of the internet, away from friends and family's prying eyes. It's my own place to be weird, to be myself, and I wouldn't change it for anything.

Ok maybe theres a few things I would have changed but all the worst users seem to have left for twitter so it's all good now lmaoooooo

I just passed my 10th anniversary of joining tumblr and this video was such a fun trip down memory lane! One extra benefit of tumblr that I would mention is that there is no such thing as a tumblr influencer. There are popular blogs, but no one is actually trying to get clout off of being on tumblr and it's so refreshing. There are a few celebrities like Neil Gaiman and Linda Carter, but they largely stay in their own lane and are just there, the last time people tried to gain fame through tumblr it was an industry plant band called the Tramp Stamps and they were chased off within 24 hours
