These export bans don’t really stop China’s AI progress. If anything, they’ve sped it up. Nvidia used to dominate the market there, but now its share has dropped from almost 95% to around 50%. By cutting off access, the U.S. is basically forcing Chinese companies to build their own chips faster. In the end, it’s American firms like Nvidia that lose out more than China does

Exploring alternatives makes sense from a risk-management perspective. But replacing Nvidia isn’t just about matching chip specs, it’s about replicating a mature ecosystem of software, tooling, and developer optimization built over years. Competition will grow, but ecosystem depth and integration are hard to duplicate quickly.

It makes sense for AI firms to explore alternatives, diversification reduces dependency risk. But replacing Nvidia isn’t just about matching chip specs. It’s about software ecosystems, developer tools, and years of optimization around one architecture. Competition will grow, but ecosystem depth is hard to replicate overnight.

Many of us young people are using or have used Chat GPT, Mistral A.I or other A.I platforms for studies, work, therapeutic help, out of curiosity

I quit. I deleted all AI related apps. I don’t want this. Never asked for it. Some say “but what if everyone is ahead of you because they use AI ?” (for example in the job market, which is, as MANY of us new grads can see, a freaking mess right now #jobpocalypse)”.

Oh, really ? In a room full of 25 people applying for the same job, let’s say it is a job where you have to speak Japanese, if 20 of us used A.I to pass our exams and the recruiter asks you to speak it, don’t you think the 5 people who actually speak the language and studied it are the ones who will go through every round?

Well. I think so. F** A.I actually. It consumes a TON of water, CLEAN, water, and it’s run by folks who would have been, or WERE, friends with Mr. Jeffrey Epstein, or Mr. Orange Man current POTUS.

Nope, they already stole the dating scene (dating apps), we’ve already lost many crucial years to Covid, let’s all get our attention and brain back.

F.** AI.

The deployment of the startup chip can't be at large scale. TSMC's capacity is already fully booked for the next two years by NVIDIA, APPLE and Broadcom.

Good luck with that.

They can try and waste time but ultimately they ALL will realize one truth: all roads lead back to NVidia.

lol, they sign alternatives b/c they can’t get nvidia chips as many as they want

Important market news, but I can't stop staring at what she's wearing. Looks like she has a cape on LOL.

@Zetler

Just stop. Nvidia isn’t losing anything. Model makers are just desperate for anybody who has GPU’s available and they’re not waiting for Blackwell or Rubin deliveries. All over 99% of GPU’s are made by TSMC and Nvidia has production share majority locked down for the next 2 years. The alternatives can’t scale up to approach Nvidia’s volumes. People really need to think about the supply chain when contemplating threats to Nvidia’s market share.

I do have a question. For someone with less than $100,000 to invest, How would you recommend we enter the market! I'm looking to study some traders and copy their strategy rather than investing myself and losing money emotionally. What's your take on this approach???

oh give me a break, companies will have to buy the highest PERFORMANCE PER WATT, or else they lose money and time. NVDA will be king for a very long time on that metric
