In this video I talk to a bullion dealer about buying American gold eagle coins. I have bought many American gold eagles over the years including all of the fractional sizes. What is the best size gold coin to buy? I recommend buying the 1 oz American gold eagle coins. The smaller gold eagles have higher premiums. One of the benefits of stacking the gold eagle coins is the fact that they are very popular and very liquid as well. Usually coin shops will pay more for American gold than foreign gold coins. American gold eagle are 22 karats and contain a full ounce of pure gold along with some silver and copper. The type 1 American gold eagles have no security features and the type 2 American gold eagle have 1 security feature. I personally like the design of the type 2 American gold eagle coin the best. Type one is my favorite, no other design has a family setting it's sweet. The new design with floating head eagle seems like it's overweight and it's beak is too small.

Great video! Recently went through some of my uncles coins after he passed. One thing I found was some gold coins from the 1970's Franklin Mint proof coins. They say 900/1000. Based on the gram weight vs current melt, said I had $9342. What is the realistic price a coin shop would offer me?

If you're investing, do not buy coins. Simple reason - selling them will not recoup the premium. These shops will give you below spot! They'll sell it to you way over spot but will give you below spot. Just buy bars or rounds as close to melt value as possible.

Any idea where to buy the best 1 ounce silver bar tubes. I bought a couple on Amazon, Coin Safe, and they were very narrow in the middle and if you try to push your 1 ounce bar down into it, it’s going to get stuck. Any suggestions?

Waring! Warning! Warning! Its a mega scam. Gold coins have three prices and coin shops are NEVER going to tell you. There's spot, thats how much the coin shop says they're worth when you buy, then there is actual gold value, which is a secret and the lowest price of all is when you sell your gold coins. So even though gold has doubled in price, you are not going to double your investment, no no no no. these gold shops have a major cocaine habit or something, i don't know but to double your money, gold has to rize about 70% not 50%... Now ask me why you bothered to keep your coins in pristine mint condition if they claim that they're just going to melt them down, go on, ask! They have no intention of melting them down. they're kreeps and ripoffs and scammers and F_cking liars. I warned you.

@alexanderduvill6878On Dec 19th, 2025, Silver $67 and Gold is $4,340. I just bought 3 from Costco... was 3.8% premium. But with 2% CASH BACK ON Citibank Costco card... premium was 1.8%. Best I can find on Web. Free shipping from Costco and no Sales tax in California if over $2000 total price.

@deanbrandon3615Hi I was looking to find out how much of gold by 9999 purity standard is there in an American 1 oz gold eagle. For some reason, I can't find anything online with gross and net weight of this coin. It's a huge difference in price of gold price if you want to sell or buy gold buy it's purity. I believe that if the American gold eagle is only %91.67 pure at 1 troy oz(31.103 grams) then it pure gold content is only 28.5 grams of 9999 quality gold. That's almost 3 grams less than 9999 coins. At $110 price of gold per oz it's $330. If the eagle is considered a bullion coin then what is the sense of getting a less pure coin that has a higher premium then 9999 pure coins? Thx

@BeefbusNot sure why it's always recommended to save for 1oz instead of buying fractional. Yes, the premium is higher for fractional, but picture this: Person A bought a 1/10oz coin every month for the past 10 months, and Person B saved up for 10 months to buy a 1oz coin today. Person A would have been far better off. When he started buying, the spot price of gold was around $2,400, and it's been rising steadily to the $3,350 that Person B would be paying today. The weighted average spot price for Person A would be somewhere around $2,900. The premiums for fractional are nowhere near high enough to offset that difference. Now, you can't count on that to keep happening, just like with every type of investment decision there's risk, and you have to decide for yourself. But I'm just saying that it's not necessarily better to save and buy 1oz. It could just as easily pay off to mitigate the risk of buying at a spike by buying fractional periodically, and pay a bit of extra premium for that.
