$300k in hush money to his girlfriend's underaged victim, and all he got in return was a text that said, "Stop busting my balls." What a life.

He's right about proportionality. Any burger (or sandwich, for that matter) that is too tall to bite through in one go is a failure. As far as toppings are concerned, controversial opinion, but I'd rather have mayo than cheese. I love cheese, but I just think mayo works better on a burger. And it's gotta have tomato and pickle.

Bacon is great, but not at the price it gets charged in a lot of burger jaints.

Anthony is missed.

Ketchup ruins everything it touches.
If you need a sugary sauce, use barbecue sauce or Sriracha I guess.

I thought he was going to say; 1. drive to In and Out, 2. Order a double double, 3. order animal style fries. 😂

I totally agree with him. There is nothing worse than a burger that's too big to get your mouth around. A super thick burger isn't a culinary flex. It's just inconvenient, and it detracts from the enjoyment of eating it.

Next, Anthony Bourdain on perfect depression.

I was confused how adding lettuce and tomato can make it too large for one hand, but then they showed that one towards the end of the video, yeah hes right.

Bourdain was a poser. Never saw him cook. Just eat and comment. Even I could do that.

The burger, an easy to make meal, and an even easier meal to screw up. I agree 100% that you should ask yourself if it makes the burger better. I still have nightmares about a burger I got at a "fancy café". I don't know what kind of messed up drugs the owners had been taking, but it was horrible and they should be punished for calling something a burger when it clearly was anything but.
I like mine with bacon, ketchup and a good, strong mustard (it adds a nice kick).

@Greatdingo

Does adding bacon make it better? Of course!

This is why it's insulting to compare him to gordon ramsey. 2 completely different views and takes on food and how to approach it ❤

Lettuce - optional, tomato - no. I'm against tomato because generally it's tasteless and just a placeholder and it doesn't add anything to the sandwich. You want onions there instead or pickle.

If I can't get the thing in my mouth without dislocating my jaw, it's just not right.

Ketchup on a burger? Blasphemy!

@seansailor7149

Agreed, as much as I like tomatos, I never use them. They make the structure slippery and everything slides around.

Wise words. Miss you, Tony.

He's wrong. He likes a simple burger and that's fine but so many flavours, mustard, pickles, sauteed or caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato... and the list goes on. You simply need to add these items in moderation and stack them slowly. Eating a burger with two hands is entirely acceptable. A good burger is an experience to be focused on, not eaten haphazardly while you hail a cab or something. God love him and God bless him but he's absolutely wrong on this.

You don't need to make the burger better, you just need to make it tasty. Because better is subjective

@TranceCore3

With burgers I have always found that simple is better. Meat, cheese, salt/pepper, and maybe a little ketchup and/or mustard. Anything else just makes it messy.

@pauldavis5665

2 steps to take your home made burgers from meh to awesome (practically zero effort required)

1) toast your buns
2) salt your tomatoes

@Zhao47
@

Bacon should be put on the almost cooked patty, then the cheese. The melted cheese holds the bacon in place.

Omg. Someone said it. RIP Mr Bourdain!! I see these ratings for quote unquote best burgers and many times they're as he put it, difficult to eat!! Stop piling on shit! I dont want to wear half my burger! I want to eat that part too!!

Made a burger at home the other week with just the meat, red Leicester cheese on a butter bun, basically because I didn't have any other ingredients. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it, but just put it down to the fact that I was hungry.

I see advertisements for burgers 🍔 stacked so high you can’t possibly bite thru it, along with too much condiments soaks & drips constantly. Less is more in this case!

@surfing636

Hold the lettuce hold the tomato. That's fine for a salad but I don't want salad on my burger. Caramelized onions, pickles, mustard or ketchup perhaps both and cheese if your a fan. I'm not however. I'll have my cheese on a grilled cheese sandwich or a patty melt on strong Rye bread, not my burger however. That's how it is in my world.

Anthony was a smart guy and loved INO burger as do I. So did Julia Child as does Gordon Ramsey and Thomas Keller. If Anthony was still with us he’d be enjoying George Motz Hamburger America Oklahoma onion smashed burger in NYC the most. My favorite food of all time since I was born in 1958 is a cheese burger. Not pizza. Not steak. Not Italian or Tex-Mex or Chinese food. My next favorite after a cheeseburger is a patty melt on not rye but buttered parm cheese Texas toast. Whole pickled jalapeños on the side.

It’s very hard to argue with logic like this. Good quality meat and buns, some salad (and cheese if you like it), simple condiments or a special sauce mixture that compliments the other ingredients and that’s it. Simple is nearly always the best.

I think he's right. burgers shouldn't be overcomplicated. my best are with salad, tomato, pickled cucumber and onion. no ketchup cause there's tomato. but you can add it instead. i prefer mustard and mayo. you can add cheese and bacon. but no more. though sometimes i make it with a fried egg

@BillyKrebs
