I'm Argentinian although I've lived abroad most of my life. I have my dad in a nursing home here and come roughly every 4 months, and in the past 2 years the prices have sky rocketed. It's ridiculous!

I lived in Buenos Aires Argentina for over 10 years. If you are willing to live like a loca, you will find Buenos Aires is one of the most affordable international cities in the world.

I have to be honest, when I was there I felt a kind of nostalgia for the Europe that I knew that no longer exists...it's got a cohesion and collective togetherness that is long gone in Paris, London, Stockholm, Hamburg...well, since 2015 to be precise.

Going through immigration was the worst part of visiting!!! I just got back a few weeks ago. I showed up 3 1/2 hours before my flight and barely made it. A friend of mine missed her flight and showed up insanely early. I am talking insane lines and incompetent immigration. They took my photo twice for I was allowed to leave. Mexicos immigration was insanely easy. No photos and lines moved fast. I have traveled there about 6 times and immigration never took longer than 30 minutes.

Also!! I traveled around Argentina. I booked 5 flights. 2 were cancelled and 1 was delayed 18 hours (never use FlyBondi).

I agree with a lot of what you said, but I seriously question if you even went to the country. I know many other travelers had similar experiences. There is absolutely nothing efficient about their immigration or air transport. Either you got insanely lucky, or you never went.

Interesting. I was just in Argentina for most of December and found the prices for hotels and food to be quite reasonable. Not super cheap but less than the US for something equivalent.

Don't come here, your 3 months valid temp-residency takes 8 months or more to be renewed. And almost all banks will kick you out if you don't have a DNI, which DNI is almost impossible to get under Milei.

I see comments that say that Argentina is safer than the U.S. I was born and raised in the U.S., however I lived in Buenos Aires for a while and while I really like Argentina, it is definitely not safer than the U.S. because the statistics are not recorded correctly, as is the case in most South American countries. All of my family and friends in Argentina live just outside of Capital Federal and they have all been robbed a half dozen times each, whether it's on the street or in a car at gunpoint or their cars or homes were robbed, however no one reports the crimes because if and when the police do show up they will ask for money for gas to go work the case. That's right they want money from you in order to fuel up their patrol cars, which they'll take the money and never come back. Argentinians rarely report a crime because they know the police are corrupt and there are many cases where the police are actually the perpetrators in their off-duty hours. When I was living there a butcher shop around the corner from me was held up at gunpoint and the owner shot dead when he didn't give the suspect a sufficient amount of money. This crime was reported because it was a murder and the police actually looked for the murder suspect, found him, and arrested him. The murder suspect that was arrested was a provincial police officer and they found out that he was part of a ring of Buenos Aires Provincial Police Officers that were committing these robberies. (While I lived there the grocery store two doors down was also robbed at gunpoint, so not isolated incidents. After I left Argentina the Chinese owner was shot dead in that same grocery store during a robbery...really sad) Whenever I was returning back home in the evening hours, I had to drive around the block a couple of times to make sure I wasn't being followed before stopping and parking in the garage, which is standard practice for the majority of Argentinians in and around more populated areas of Argentina. You NEVER leave your door unlocked there, and at night you're locked up tight behind barred windows and doors, as you hear all the tweakers that took the drug "Paco" yelling and roaming the streets looking for easy targets. Your head is always on a swivel because you have to be so aware of your surroundings. I never felt that way in the U.S. and when I got back to Florida, I felt so much peace and safety, which I took for granted before leaving. Listen, obviously I lived in the real Argentina and not in the designated tourist areas where all the Argentine Federal Police are carrying their automatic rifles or the Prefectura Naval Police standing on every corner, so you will hear all the wonderful things from the ex-pats living in the tourist areas loving life and I get it, that's great, however don't say Argentina is safer than the U.S. because 100% it's not. All the real Argentinians know exactly what I described...

When you visit the United States, you don't know if you're in Africa, India, or china.
We are a mostly white European country with deep-rooted and unique culture, not a seedy city full of drug addicts like Bogota.

As for the brusque-ness of BA, I found that inland, whether Cordoba, Mendoza, or Bariloche - the people were really great, unhurried, friendly, polished - all those things.

The huge + as western europeen is that argentine is isolate and is only withe country no big multi cultural sh...t with african and arabic no great remplacement plan and risk from civil war in next decade its realy important as a withe if you can speak spanish you can be easy integrate and not be a gringo like many not withe country where you will ever foreigner.
