In 1973 Merckx's sponsors persuaded him not to ride the TdF because of threats of violence against him due to his domination of the race. Instead he won the Giro and the Vuelta so he was clearly in excellent form that year. If he had ridden the TdF in 1973 he would likely be sitting on 6 wins.

Тадей краток. Скромный. Простой парень из Словении. Без звёздной болезни. Поэтому я и смотрю велогонки с его участием. Команда его боготворит. Аусо слишком завязан на себе, любимом. Исаак Де Льторо-преемник Погачара.
Tadej Pogačar has joined cycling’s most exclusive club with a fifth Tour de France victory. Officially, he now stands alongside Anquetil, Merckx, Hinault and Indurain. But a recent comment from Lance Armstrong has reopened one of the sport’s most uncomfortable questions: is the real record five, or seven? This video explores the seven blank spaces in the Tour’s history, why Armstrong’s victories were never reassigned, and what those missing winners reveal about cycling’s darkest era. As Pogačar continues to dominate, is he chasing an official record, or the one the sport still remembers?

More User Perspectives
Lance was the biggest scapegoat in doping history. Most studies in pro sports show 15-30% doping assumptions aren't irrational. Do the math
@BernhardKohliThose who share the podcast with the cheat, can only be cheats themselves.
@keepitreal154I believe Tadej, when he says there is no number. I think he'd rather win every big one once than 8 TDF titles.
@Birdogie-boysNo matter what, cycling was always a sport of taking whatever substance and pushing your body with it to the Ultimate limited do or die. Since the world has became feminised & people wanting the Utopian dream of fairness the sport has changed trying to portray this fakeness, if doping was still like it was Pogacar would still be the best. So Lance Armstrong won all 7 because they all doped like 99% of them, so we have to bow down to the utopian system & stupidity & say his a cheat!! "Well he is with no sin cast the first stone". I think Pogacar will get to 8 or more!! He is a true Champion nevertheless!!
@MicbopNo one credible gives a ff of what the biggest cheat in cycling says.
Those that give him any time at all, can only be of the same cheating character.
I would really appreciate if the The Roadman Podcast would stop using the term "opens up" in its video titles. It's just clickbait. And for me, it really works the opposite way: when I read a title like this, I now know it's something-something involving Lance and Pogacar, but definitely not Lance revealing some inside info about Poggy.

Imagine a tournament of Call of Duty where someone one 7 times and was then revealed that it won using Hacks. And then comparing with someone that never used a hack and putting the one with hacks as the bar. That’s how ridiculous it sounds
@bymatallanahe really wants to win Paris Roubaix
@maxgrass8134clickbait title
@maxgrass8134Why do this video Armstrong is never to believed again....
@youtubeurevilThere’s a lot of dumb people on here 😂😂. If you have any evidence at all please share the source.
@royevans18822 ad/sponsored segments in a sub 13 minutes video is just too much. YouTube is worse than TV ever was, now. And I’m not even taking into account the ad rolls that people without YouTube Premium have to go through…
@luciengrilletI love your podcast. But it can certainly do without boosting the ego of the biggest cheat in cycling history.
I have seen him win those tours as well. So what? He still believes he is the best TdF rider because of it. Why else would he mention what the „real“ record is?
The reality is that in the Armstrong era and even before, we don’t know who the real winner would have been, because cheating was so prevalent in cycling. And that’s a shame.
Why does anyone even acknowledge Armstrongs comments. He was the biggest cheat in cycling. 👿
@davidwaterhouse4133Pogačar did say in an interview 2026 TDF, about how long he will compete on tour, and said he has 3 in him. Which is like saying i want 7 titles on TDF
@CasualCommenter1892Love the video and the arguments, and agree with pretty much everything.
But two ad breaks plus a plugin to sell a program, all within 12min video is pushing it quite hard
He will want 8
@AussieLibertarianReally enjoy the Roadmnan vlogs. The sociopaths opinions are an irrelevance, bullying vulnerable woman, destroying careers, riding on the back of cancer sufferers and the long term damage of trust the sociopath did to our sport, well you have to question any individuals moral compass if they support that.
@sparx550Why on earth are we even giving Lance Armstrong oxygen? He raced dirty. He cheated. He lied, bullied, threatened and intimidated everyone. He didn’t win 7. He won nothing. I believe Tadej just loves racing. And isn’t focussed on records. And he’s generous when defeated, which is something you could never, ever say about Armstrong.
@bradpage5971Maybe Lance knows what Pogacar is injecting? 😆💉
@reddevil211287Ja the new bike technology and supplementation dieting you know. So much better. That's why records are broken to this day.
@christiangerhardt2408Lance Armstrong cheated and eventually got caught but for some reason after reading his books I still admire him why I don’t know
As for Podacar the first time I saw him I told my brother he is cheating and we both agreed, and I’ve believed that ever since, the way he charges up the mountain wins gets of his bike takes a drink laughs then walks away when every other rider that fights to win collapses onto the floor and then while recovering gets a drink. That in my mind is a true racer.
I’ve been following cycling since the sixties seen all that could. happen seen the cheats the drug takers and it annoys me the way presenters love him greatest ever then he will get caught and they will say we thought it was to good to be true.
1. Yes, Lance lied and cheated and was horrible to people, and a lot of people still can’t stand him.
2. It would be HUGE to see Tadej, the GOAT, win 8 because the win record is 7.
If he wins 8 then he will remove Armstrong from history forever
@queasybeetleLevel playing field. 7 is the record!
@glennrodin-ql9qpI could give a fuck what Lance thinks!
@ALHEALY9110Pogo is a nice guy so he can’t be doping…
@TweedSuitHe won’t win anymore. The bust is coming.
@TweedSuitWho cares about the TDF? The World championship is the test of a rider. Eddie Merckx, Alfred Binda, Oscar Freire, and Peter Sagan are 3 time winners. Sagan won it 3 consecutive years. Screw armstrong and Trek.
@giovanhagarImagine Armstrong back in that era, conducting himself with the meticulousness of today’s professionals: no alcohol, no partying, minimal family time, grueling training hours, a strict diet with no cheating, altitude training, massive carbohydrate intake on the bike, loads of caffeine, and so on. Would Armstrong have been able to handle that training volume? Would he have been able to compete after such an intense training regimen? And would he have been able to beat today’s professionals?
@ישראלשורץ-י2קLance was getting too big for his boots.
The REAL powers in cycling, are faces you will never see....the MONEY people.
It's a money-making machine for various corporations.
Lance was warned after the 7th.....Stop now.
He came back.
They showed him how the game really works.
They destroyed him.
Stupid Lance.
All he had to do was walk away, but that EGO of his.....nailed him.
Pathetic commentary. Blowing Armstrong while calling out Floyd Landis as a cheat. You’re smarter than that. If you’re not, read all the available literature and media on the subject and figure it out. In short, you can’t cheat people that are also cheating. To single out Floyd (Lance dropped the dime) is ball. Floyd’s ride was the single best, most exciting stage in Tour history. Times 10. It wasn’t his fault that the pelotons blood didn’t make it o er from Spain and they were all tuckered out. Armstrong won those races as well. He was a dick, a big mouth, egotistical, boss man, cock sucker. The ENTIRE HISTORY OF CYCLING has drugs and cheating or whatever through it. The sanctimonious press is bullshit, and Podgcar is a fucking MOTOR cheat That’s second level and THAT crosses the live.
@daveborden7445Pogcar is a humble human being... the Tour de France is inhuman... Just getting thru one is hard... any moment it can end... as w/ Lance was almost taken out by Joseba Beloki whose career ended that day... it is a relief to finish a stage...
@davidlockwood2799Tadej is already the GOAT.
He doesn’t need to break all cycling records to be the GOAT. I’d like to see him win the Vuelta, then gain some mass and go after Paris-Roubaix.
I think it's "Tours de France"
@justaddafanI'd say neither, I think in his head it was 5 down, 3 to go.
@leightintle2940Accountability you talk of. But give the cheater his wins. Come on bro…
@bymatallanaHonestly, who actually cares what lance armstrong has to say... What a loser💩
