Asia's Best Kept Secret! 4 Days in TAIPEI, TAIWAN Travel Vlog & Guide

Video Overview & Insights

Taipei has jumped to the top of our list for best city experiences in Asia. In this travel vlog, we share our full itinerary of what we got up to - Shilin and Raohe Food Night Market, discovering the Taipei Grand Trial, Beitou hot spring town, visiting the old Taipei around Dadaocheng and Dihua Street, Ximending and Zhongshan for shopping and nightlife, the Chih Nan Temple and of course, the iconic Taipei 101 building as we visit the 89th floor observation deck. We were invited by the Taipei Tourism Board and shown around all these areas by locals and tour guides. We finish with some travel guide tips for using public transport, the hotels we stayed at along with safety.

Hope you all enjoy this love letter to Taipei! It's jumped to the top of our list for best city experiences in Asia and I hope this helps! All places visited in this video 👉 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vnW5fwT1FFCCrsKBYs5gomaWiqa6T_1J/view

It was really kind that you shared that PDF for free. I've seen other travel sites where they were charging to get the notes for the trip. You did an excellent job showing a lot of the major sights.

I'm currently researching my next holiday, and Taiwan is one of the countries I am considering. However watching a number of other travel vlogs, it wasn't really standing out so I began considering other destinations, but your video has LITERALLY changed my mind. Taipei Tourism Board made a great choice in sponsoring you. Taiwan WILL be now my next trip. You guys are great at what you do!

my friend gave me 10% off discount code "CU-CHA-LIN-FF" on City Unscripted that can be used all cities around the world, so i booked a half day Taipei tour with a private guide to get around Taipei hassle free, itinerary and meeting time was tailored base on my own preference. She took me to Ronhua morning market where there was tourists at all, only local grandmas shopping for their fresh produce, then off to other hidden gem of Taipei.

With a local guide you get to see the city as a local, it was truely a spectacular experience.

Truly excellent video. I live in Taipei. Here’s some advice on watching the sunset. At 9:25 in the video— that area. Take the cable car from Taipei Zoo up to Maokong Station. Do it about an hour before sunset. Then that row of tea houses he talked about in the video, it is in my opinion the best spot to watch the sunset in Taipei. You have a panoramic view of the city below you with the Taipei 101 framing it to the right all surrounded by green hills. If you’re lucky, you will get a sky with beautiful pink and violet hues that paint the clouds, and it becomes more and more purple as the sun sets. One of the top three most beautiful sunsets that I’ve ever seen in my life I saw from that vantage point. And I’ve been to 30 countries. I also highly recommend the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. Former industrial factory in warehouses that have been converted into boutiques, galleries, and museums.

00:00 Taipei Best

What a magnificent tour of the many pleasures of Taipei and the surrounding territory. Your video is a lyrical love story about your affection for the city and island. My wife and I are planning to visit Taipei this coming autumn on our way to visit Japan for its autumn leaves.

I noticed, however, that you do not mention The National Palace Museum. Is that an intentional, political omission, or your opinion of the museum? When we were in Shanghai about 15 years ago, our tour guide told us while touring their museum that the one in Taipei had a far better collection. Moreover, our Han Chinese friends have the same opinion. We plan to spend two half days at the Musium.

Having seen your video, I think a tour and the cable cars around Taipei makes great sense. Hopefully we will not be drenched by any typhoon.

Best regards, John Hayward

Thank you so much for your video! I had to go to Taipei for work and decided to stay extra because of the information you shared. Since I didn't have time to research the city beforehand, I would never have known everything Taipei had to offer. And, as always, you film things so beautifully and have such a witty narrative, it was fun to watch and learn. I had a great vacation - thank you!!!

why you everything always say " China" ? All of they (you said china) are our Taiwan style and food and culture. This is our way. Taiwan and China are two different countries.

PLEASE HELP!!

I have been going through extremely stressful year's I was suicidal really it's just that things started getting better, I just want to go somewhere in Taiwan chill out somewhere in the countryside walk along the beach or in the countryside and ride a moped not into nightlife or any kind of Sexual activities etc. I just want to be with nature that's all.
Could anyone suggest to me please where to go in Taiwan
Thanks in advance.

Great video and an amazing country with great people. One note and seriously, please dont describe how “progressive” they are. As you mentioned in the videos the TV’s sat outside and the phone unattended while charging with nobody stealing them or destroying them. In “progressive” USA they would have been stolen or destroyed in under 2 minutes so please dont insult beautiful Taiwan by describing them with that word.

Living in Taipei, I really enjoy how you captured so many spots around the city in just a few days. Seeing Shilin Night Market, Dihua Street, and the views from Taipei 101 through your lens makes me appreciate my hometown even more. Thanks for sharing this travel vlog!

@MarcillyTaiwan

I’m not sure if I would have considered this list a Taipei native’s place to go but I do think kids from other parts of the country coming here for university go to these places on your list in the same way non Seoullites in Korea always want to have ramyeon on the Han river. I feel like locals end up being attached to whatever smaller night market that was the norm to their childhood and some specific breakfast place for doujiang and youtiao or congee and sides if that’s what your family is into. But no food in Taipei tastes the same as anyone’s childhood since Millenials and gen z no longer cook, food stalls actively put in less salt, sugar, oil to appeal to health conscious consumers and working class folks.
