I live outside Austin and have eaten at some of these. I can't believe you put the Oasis on your list. Good place for drinks and appetizers. I don't know any local who to there to eat a meal.

...meh. Born and lived in Austin most of my life. Most of these places are just trendy to eat at and we avoid them like the plague. Newer, over hyped, over priced bc of the growth of the city. I can throw a rock here and hit a bbq and Mexican restaurant at the same time. There are plenty others to choose from and are just as good. Save your money, save your time. Don't fall for the tourist gimmick.

Oasis truly is only for its view. The food is average on a GREAT day…….not worth the drive!

And Valentina’s is now out-of-business. They moved from the location on South Manchaca Road in South Austin to a giant food hall in Buda. I believe they were lured by the Buda city council with tax incentives to be an anchor tenant at a local shopping area. They went out of business within a year of moving in. VERY SAD!!

Torchy’s is to tacos like Panda Express is to Chinese food. Torchy’s tastes good until you find a REAL taco maker. Then you hate going back.

Great video. Home Slice is my Jam and Franklin's BBQ is untouchable. We moved though earlier this year because Austin has turned into the butthole of Texas. The Communist Democrats have literally destroyed that city, and we got tired of illegals and homeless always trying to break into our house...and we lived in a gated community!

Enjoy the food but go armed....the city is in absolute shambles as is every other blue controlled city and state.

Good list, I'm sorry not to see some Asian options. There is a vibrant Asian community in Austin and good food off the beaten path. At Chinatown Center on Lamar you can find many options and a visit to MT Market, the huge Asian Market, is way fun. I'm lucky to be a mile away so I visit often. Another word of mouth suggestion I love is Peace Bakery at Lamar and Braker. GREAT Middle Eastern food and delicious Baklava.

Lived in Austin for 5 years and ppl are generally clueless about food. Barbecue is the only legit great thing here. Tex Mex is lame; Mexican in California is miles above anything here. Most overrated “food city” in the country.

So, you can place an online order for Franklins as long as you order 5 lbs of BBQ (a couple of days before), which most people visiting do since they want to try everything after waiting in line for hours. Interstellar does not have as "long" as a line but they are ridiculously slow. I've been there on two separate occasions. Once, I was third in line and it still took just over 20 minutes to get my food and the time before that, I was 15th in line but left after an hour of waiting and barely seeing the line budge. They just have one person slicing the meat. La Barbecue operates at the same snail pace. Both places have very good BBQ but because the BBQ scene has exploded and elevated in quality all across Texas, you can get the same quality BBQ now at many locations without waiting for hours.

Jewboy Burgers needs to be on this list. One of the best burger includes slices of super tender pastrami with sauerkraut and cheese. Absolutely delicious.

It’s nuts to me that Texas Chilli Parlor didn’t make this list.

6:11 Round rock donuts is not good I'm sorry. Donuts from your average donut shop in california are better but I guess thats not a fair comparison considering ca is the donut capital of the world. The problem with round rock donuts is the oil is really bad for some reason. The dough comes out in this weird orange color and theres way too much oil in them.
