Their debt has passed €1.2 billion, much of it repayable in the short term. But how does a club that made almost €1 billion in 2018-19 end up facing the very real prospect of bankruptcy?
And how do they get themselves out of this debt.

I believe Barcelona's debt must be close to 3 billion €, not just 1.3 billion €. I think this debt is just because of bad sportive management. Barsa has also borrowed like 1.5 billion € for the Nou Camp stadium renovation. Just 1.3 billion € debt wouldn't be too worrying since its net value must be around 4.5 billion €.

You forgot to mention the fact that while Madrid is also in debt, they are more successful than Barca so there is more inflow from winnings than in Barca, while they haven't made many astronomically expensive transfers in a fairly long time.

The hiring of Valverde in 2017 was the start. Valverde drove their finances by spending money on too many names rather then creating stars. if Luis Enrique was still in charge, Barcelona would not be in this mess. He always made sure Barcelona won a trophy. Man made Neymar & Suarez play well with Messi. Valverde destroyed that team.
