Gripen is shit compared to f35. They are buying these, hoping not to fight.

Claus, what I’m concerned about is that say it becomes a mixed fleet of 140 aircraft, F-35 gets delivered sooner, say 70 over say 5 years. Then a conservative government gets elected and cancels Gripen. That’s bad, our only combat aircraft is the F-35, but it has a kill-switch controlled be a foreign government. Comments?

It would be great to have Gripens and manufacture them for the world. That would be awesome 👏

When Donnie throws a tantrum and tries to end CUSMA, Carney can cancel all of the F35’s. The newly Canadian made Gripen should become model # FU47.

Thank goodness!

Huge mistake.the gripes are inferior in every way.Why wouldn’t you want the best?Built in Canada is a political play.get the f35

Could be this. Could be that.

Gripen is a capable fighter but I think there's better choices. GlobalEye is a good AWAC's i think it'll work fine for us although the 150 degrees of radar range isn't that great compared to the 360 degrees of view with the American AWAC's.... for the fighter jet I've always thought the brand new F-15EX is the perfect workhorse to replace the Legacy Hornet!!! We could've kept to one plane instead of a mixed fleet. Another problem with the Gripen is we need to build an infrastructure to produce the Gripen. Your looking at 5 year's there then start building the plane Jesus it'll be ANOTHER DAM 10 years before one is in the air! I don't believe the liberals are capable of finally making a decision on such a feet i mean it's been over 10 years already they've done nothing let alone pick a dam jet!!!! Not good. Lockheed Martin said we could build F-35's in Canada although Carney hasn't tried to make a deal for that. We already have 15 Lockheed Martin offices and manufacturing plants in Canada with over 1,000 employees and we build key parts for the F-35 right here at home!!!!! Again liberals don't want Canadians to know this they've never brought it up!

Talk's cheap

@larryriopelle3469
@

It's going to cost Canada far more in the long run having different platforms.
And that's even if they decide to buy them.
Given how the Liberal government works in Canada it could take years.

But hey Elbows up LOL

I am 98% sure that we will have a fleet of Gripens. The rumor I see published is 72 and 72 F35 hangar queens. IF Trump plays ball on CUSMA. The F35 is just darn expensive and expensive to operate, so my bet is we see 90% of day to day operations covered by Gripens, and the F35s stay where they like to be - in the hangar. F35s are better offensively, but that's not what Canada does. The Gripens are better defensively, and that's what Canada does (we're not going to do some dumb nonsense like try and invade Cuba.).

@oldguy75a
@

After Canada buys the F35's we should sell them to Iran, Venezuela and Cuba. Fuel might be an issue for a couple of countries tho.

@Polybius_404
@

Good. There are lots of good reasons why a mixed fleet actually makes sense.

More baloney from Klaus the sausage maker😊

@JimGraham-f6n

Since even the Pentagon has cancelled many of their F35 purchases, more needs to be said about the sorry state of the F35 program. 😡

@TheCDNJoe2
@

Even without the Orange-Utan at the white house, it would still make sense to buy Saab fighter jets as they can be easier to operate in the arctic, while the f35 needs pristine conditions- and also require a fortunate to operate and maintain.

This is what a win win win looks like

I said this on a House of El video, and I'll repeat it here: I really, really, really, REALLY want Canada to get the Grippen. But I'm holding off on any celebration until I hear the official announcement.

@laveritesurlestemoinsdejeh8522

If Canada choses to operate both, Thailand will follow suit. We already operate the Gripen C/D and placed orders for the E/F already. In 10 years time, we will decommission our last old F16 legacy fleet. Which prior to that deadline, we must decide on the replacement. The Airforce already said it's gotta be 5th Gen. So it's probably going to be the F35A. If say, US allowed such sales down the line, that means we will be in the only 2 countries in the world that has both aircraft in the airforce.

@CoffeBuz
@

Finland has over 80 F-35's with a population of of 5 million people. Canada needs them. The Gripen is a fantastic 3/4 gen aircraft but it is no match for the F-35. As for the USA dummy we need them

@tomlarocque4720
@

Will the f35s be 100 percent made rigght

@WayneClaridge
@

Former CAF member here. I can easily see the expanded fleet simply because our forces need to grow. When Canada originally purchased it's F-18 fleet, we bought 138 planes. 88 total planes isn't living up to our commitments and leaves us in a "stretch" capacity. The only issue with buy 140 planes total (aside from the cost of maintaining and training on dual platforms) is committing too and attracting, enough pilots.

@martinstepanek9252
@

Huge mistake, supporting 2 maintence and support logistics programs as well as training will be a nightmare. Canada is letting its feud and animosity with the Trump Administration dictate poor procurement decisions. Canada is acting like a jilted teenager that lets emotions control their behaviour - immature and spiteful. A hybrid jet program is just dumb. They won't even network properly.

@resultzpr1769

Great idea - buy jets designed in 1990s

@RobertLewis-el9ub

@WayneClaridge

Prime Minister Carney should buy the minimum of F35s possible. I'm disappointed that he may be using the F35 for leverage 🤬

@donhart3401
@

The Gripen is the only logical choice unless the USA makes concessions, and I don't see that happening.

@deultima
@

I’m not enthusiastic about this form of military Keynesianism. Production of expensive sophisticated military machines that produce nothing but further costs unused, and destruction when used, is economically a dead end.

@jackshultz2024
@

I’d rather see Canada cut completely out of any trading with America. Don’t sale them F35’s just burn their economy to the ground. Screw Canada

@22RTLE
@

Gripen is the better plane even before you think about the kill switch. It can fly faster and farther for less cost and it can land on remote airstrips. Why did Ukraine choose to buy over 100 Gripen? Gripen plus Global Eye plus meteor missile can defend against anything. Ukraine uses drones to attack enemy territory so they have no need for stealth jets.

@LesColes-i4o
@

Of course Canada chose the gripen. Canadians have no ability to make good decisions. I’m sure the pilots will be delighted to being lit up like a Christmas tree from every ground radar stations and every 5th gen jet in the ski with them. Pilots in gripens will have a very short lifespan when contested. Typical Canadian decision. Stupid

@22RTLE

Hi Claus,
Why does Canada government still use our tax money to buy vulnerable F35 more as we, Canadians knew F35 is no more the king in the sky as China radar and even Iran missiles and radars can lock on f35 and shoot it down.
This news is not a gessing news on F35 but F35 was analized by the west military expert and world media talked about F35 is no more stealth as we knew:
Iran’s 358 and 359 missiles are its secret weapons when it comes to shooting down US drones, and have potentially damaged one of its stealthiest aircraft as well. America lost 24 MQ-9 Reaper drones during the Iran war, worth $720million, in addition to another 13 lost over Yemen during fighting there in 2025 The 358 and 359 missiles are thought to be largely responsible. Iran also managed to hit an F-35 fighter jet, with suggestions these missiles were also involved. Here, War on Tape breaks down exactly how they work, and what makes them so deadly.

Here is Global Mail World analized and explained F35:

If I may be so impertinent as to ask what we are buying the fighter jets for. Is it to defend our air space or is it for some other purpose? If it is to defend our airspace, are fighter jets the best option? If some other purpose, what is that purpose? I wish there was some discussion and debate about these issues.

@jackshultz2024
@

Grippen hands down all the way.

@RobertPark-v2u
@

The 6500 can't refuel in the air so we need a 6500 A that can refuel in the air

@chevygmcdodge
@

I really hope we are not buying more than 30 of the already committed F35's. I can see better use of our tax money going to set up mfg of the Gripen.

@joeg7755
@

my understanding of which jet to buy come down to canada will buy gripen cause USA does not trust canada with their clasified military hardwear since canada has aligned them self with comunist china.

@JamesHunt-c5e
@

Less we not forget the PC destroying the Avro Arrow & now we will build the Gripen in Canada, not only for Canada but Ukraine & the world. No more US blackmailingCanada. Canada proud, Canada strong.

@Expos11
@

When Remulac starships arrive we will defeat the blunt head planes.

@bugtusslealien3931
@

There has been a couple of you tube we are getting Gripen planes. I thought that we only paid for the first 19 f35s. Which would be enough of them because, only half of them will fly, the rest will need to be fixed.

@rolop847
@

I have read that Saab can only build 15 Gripen planes each year so they need us to help build them for the orders they are getting

@gordonwedman3179

Canada having to make a choice between Taco Dump USA traitor partner and Sweden ??? Well, don't have to be a fortune teller to know the answer ! Sweden for sure 👍

@christian1966ful

NICE!...same day pay? We pay for F-35 as they are delivered.
Now if we could drop 7/8 of the F35 order...
We could buy more Gripens! Yaaaaa!!!!
