British Actors I Definitely Thought Were American | AMERICAN REACTS
Video Overview & Insights
Thank you for watching me, an intrigued American, react to British Actors I Definitely Thought Were American
Don't forget Daniel Day Lewis also who played Abraham Lincoln.
I honestly had no idea so many famous "American" actors were actually British! In this reaction, I watch a video revealing the British actors I definitely thought were American and see just how convincing their accents really are.

Comes to something when they have to get a British actor to play an American superhero.

So that's Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Daredevil and Spiderman again. Something about superheroes screams UK apparently.

Most of these actors I had already seen in British stuff so I knew they were British right off the bat.

Also sorry but kevin mckidd was so obvious,
yes he dropped the words he'd use, for American words,
but the tone of his real accent is still there

I will say with Tom Holland you def were under a rock though
cause him being British is not a secret
Can you reactors stop pretending you're shocked in the thumbnail then sit there not reacting
cause you clearly actually knew most of these
8:52 in the UK we consume quite a lot of American media not always by choice and we also have a Shakespeare traditional of acting ๐ญ Iโm not sure how much British media the average American consumes aside stereotypes?
@robertpetre93782:08 I knew Hugh Laurie from a very young age because my mum let me watch VHS tapes of Blackadder from the 80s he was very funny as the prince Regent๐
@robertpetre9378Everybody was shocked when they found out that Idris Elba British apart from people in the UK who knew him as a DJ beforehand and appearing several British sitcom in the 90s.
@robertpetre9378it interesting reaction to say you can't reckonise your own kind, to be fair i'm british so it may just be different use of language but are all non americans humans not your own kind, i get you didn't mean it badly but it is that sort of wording can give the wrong impression. cool video either way.
@nuttyrockchickart3040W ur grandma dey put tha best stuff on
@aaron_p12Don't go down the Star Wars route, it'll blow your mind.
@HuwBassWhat you have in USA-nia is a USA-ian dialect, there are many other countries in America from Canada to the north down to Chile in the south many of whom have their own dialects different to the USA-ian one.
@robertobrien5709Honestly, the UK is so saturated with US media the mid Atlantic accent is practically our kids mother tongue ๐ข
@Skullduggery-RedYou think Americans don't have an accent???๐ How ignorant
@andersonkandia6350If our acting is like this and we can do accents so accurately imagine how good our spies was in WW2 and the cold war
@bluesz1bluesz17It goes the other way to but very occasionally like Johnny Depp does a good London accent. An Robert Downey Jnr does a good English accent and Michael Myers does a good Scottish accent and English accent. And err House isn't a sci fi
@bluesz1bluesz172 British Spidermen and 2 British Batmen
@DeebleTheBeeble50% of all actors in America are NOT American as in 50 % of all music composers and singers ....are not American. WHY MONEY ........
@AndreasKarlsson-w2bHow the fook did you think that Rick Grimes accent was real? Hahaha!
@kevingraham3619It's an American accent mate, same language sounding different. Dialect relates to a language & it's variations & actual different words used.
@helenmckeetaylor9409In America you guys donโt have many accents where as in the UK we could have 20 accents within 40 miles ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ
@laurainelindley9190A dialect and accent coach do hard work with their clients, to get them to sound right.
@annajonsson-el2fsAmerican accent.
@annajonsson-el2fsPeople like to mock Tom Holland but he's no joke. Actor, gymnast and an absolutely incredible trained dancer.
He has mastered a number of styles including hip hop, jazz and ballet.
As a very young child he starred in Billy Elliot on the West End stage here in London - choreographed by my then sister in law.
He was beast even then. โบ๏ธ๐ฌ๐ง
We can do it easy and I guess our acting schools have become better than yours as we do more theatre work. All your super heroes are played by brits,Superman,Spider man,Batman they are all brits....oh dear me. Sorry. But we dont stay all your actors have homes in the uk so our brits defo wouldn't stay in the usa sorry you don't look after people. Guess you are running out of good actors.
@keithbindoff8362If you've seen "band of brothers", just go back and check just how many of the cast was British.
@nicksykes4575You have to watch Sons of Anarchy, thank me later!
@notyourgrannysclosetTo be fair Iโm British and Iโm surprised at some of these. ๐๐
@Nic-uu3ztThe hell, i tought Charlie Hunnam and Henry Cavill are two of the hottest man from the usa๐ญ When my girls saying me that the usa is gone because 'look how they talking about each other' and etc, i always said that they got hope just look at Henry Cavill..๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ Damnnn

5:15 Matthew Macfadyen (The Way We Live Now), 10:10 Charlie Heaton (DCI Banks), 10:51 Theo James (A Passionate Woman/Room at the Top), 11:13 Andrew Garfield (The Red Riding Trilogy), and 12:46 Michael Sheen (The Damned United), filmed all the bracketed productions in Bradford.
12:12 Idris Elba executive produced The Idris Takeover (2017), and 1 of the 19 episodes was filmed in Bradford.
1:06 Andrew Lincoln recently starred with Bradfordian Samuel Bottomley in Coldwater (2025).
One huge advantage of we have is we grow up watching US shows and movies.
They missed out Idris Elba / Stringer Bell. That was boss.
Love your reactions

Don't worry. You're not being gullible. They're just really good at what they do.
@margaretnicol3423"I look gullible right now"
Well you are from usa๐

Accent = Cup of Cwoffee.
Dialect = Cup of joe. Local word choice.
Henry Cavill's family lives about 12 miles from me.
@fishtiguaProud of our acting standards in the UK
@craigfowler7098It might be of interest to know how many British rock stars have been singing in American accents for possibly sixty years. We are quite used to changing it suit at home too.
@AlexFletcherArtTom Holland is not even the first English spiderman.
@elving81Of course it's an American accent. Everyone has an accent.
@ivylasangrienta6093Dustin Hoffman stayed awake for two nights to follow 'the method' to allow him to 'live the role' of an exhausted character in the film Marathon Man.
On the day of the shoot, Hoffman's co-star Sir Laurence Olivier, looked at his dishevelled state and said 'why don't you just try acting, it's much easier'.
Apocryphal possibly, but quite funny.
This works the other way too, e.g. I never thought the woman who plays Bridget Jones was from the USA she sounds convincingly English.
@weejackrussellSpider-Man (second incarnation) shot and killed Ned Stark just 2 miles from my house.
Ada Shelby was also shot and killed just 2 miles from my house.
My man's finding out that most superheroes are played by brits ๐
@donskadanutY must learn a lot same as all people in the USA, living in a bubble ๐๐ , greetings from ๐ฉ๐ช ๐
@saschaweber8030Best British accent from an American is Phillip Winchester from strike back
