Not saying this guy didn't deserve it, but the fact that the camera panned away from the scene as soon as that cop kicked him in the face is pretty unsettling.

"I'm glad I'm getting out of this place" is an incredibly sad thing for him to remark in his final hour. Personally it seemed like he tried to get the cop to shoot him and began to open fire on him out of frustration after seeing the cop wouldn't do it. Obviously what he did was terrible and I don't even really think that lethal injection was unwarranted seeing as he was clearly extremely violent and unstable, but seeing a man so broken as to be earnestly enthusiastic upon learning he will be executed soon is horrifying. He was an adult man who made his own choice and ended up paying the price, but you can't help but wonder how different his life may have been had he not been sent to a notoriously brutal war so young all those years ago.

Andy's story is tragic. I wish he had received help when he went off his medications. The impact video evidence can have on the outcome of a case is truly incredible and terrifying. I think Andy should have been spared the death penalty and served the rest of his life in a psychiatric facility. He fought for our freedom, more than once, and was mentally scarred from all the horrific things he witnessed.

Our veterans deserve much better care. We have never done enough for them. It didn't have to come to this.
