Christopher Halliwell: ex-detective claims links to six other killings

Murderers should lose their human rights. Police code of conduct need to change for extreme circumstances such as this case. He sacrificed his career to discover evidence of murder and bring justice and closure for those poor families. I take my hat off to him, he's a true detective.

Sacked or not I'm sure he can hold his head high or at least he should do. Hope hes doing well.

Wiltshire police could have possibly brought peace to many other families of missing women but chose to be on the wrong side of history. Well done to Steve Fulcher for his compassion for victims’ families.

There is definitely more to this story we won’t ever find out . I personally think this is a cover up for something more sinister . The police have either been negligent or higher ups were involved and didn’t want it investigating

I can't criticise his actions at the time as in the heat of the moment I find it hard to believe in his position that I wouldn't have prioritised this girl's life also, but in many ways this guy is so far off the mark in his assessment/understanding of procedure that it makes me really concerned.

His refusal to even acknowledge the importance of that right to silence is worrying. On this occasion his actions reached the right result but on many others, people have said things under pressure of police questioning without legal advice which have been used as evidence against them in court and resulted in convictions which have turned out to be incorrect. No one deserves that just as no one deserves what happened to these girls.

And he is opening a case against the police that they didn't investigate additional murders that he has no evidence ever actually happened save for the fact he feels the guy showed all the signs of psychopathy and the gap between kills was greater than is normal for someone with that profile. There's nowhere to even start with an investigation given that there is no evidence of anyone else having been killed. The mention of the 8 murders by Halliwell if true may be additional reason to investigate, but given the conversations were off the record and didn't follow the right procedure we have no way of knowing that number wasn't mentioned to him by either Fulcher or another officer at some point during that conversation or another unrecorded conversation with no witnesses. Police can incorrectly recall conversations just as much as the next person and that's precisely why procedures are in place to record these things.

More families need to find peace of their missing children, and bring them home. He’s clearly a serial killer, that huge gap between the two murders he couldn’t have not killed anyone else. If they kept Fultcher, more families would find peace. Just shows how corrupt the system is.

I can see two sides of this story. I can see why rights are protected and this can prevent abuse of a suspect. Because after all, not all suspects that are arrested turn out to be the actual perpetrator of the crime. The police don't always get it right first time and that's fair enough because they are not superhuman and mistakes, along with actual evidence can sometimes lead them down the wrong path. However, to vilify this detective to the extent they did was beyond ridiculous and unnecessary. For the Judge to rule the evidence in the case of the third victim Becky was a travesty of justice. Also Fulcher's superiors could have given him a quiet rap on the knuckles and said no more about it. They could have reprimanded him for bending the rules and left it at that. Instead they vilified a man who was dedicated to his job and subsequently lost that man who may have gone on to catch many other killers in his career before he retired. The shame in this whole debacle should be heaped on Fulcher's superiors for mishandling this whole thing, and the Judge who ruled evidence in admissible which must have caused the victim's parents so much pain and grief it cannot be imagined. Fulcher's superiors should have been forced to retire after this.

The JUDGE needs his pension revoked... and struck off. Wiltshire did not investigate because Wayne Couzens was covering it all up by perverting the course of justice. He didn't want them to find people that HE himself had killed !!!

The rules maybe really good in many cases but professional police officers should be trusted to find ways to find the truth and not violate prisoners rights

ABSURD to the extremes! The entire case shows how grossly perverted the justice system has become when bloated processes have become more beneficial to murderers than the victims and their families! The fact a judge sat there and excluded VITAL CONDEMNING EVIDENCE on a serial killer because he hadn't verbally cautioned him a THIRD TIME before confessing is outrageous miscarriage of what justice should be there for - to protect society from people like Halliwell!! The same judge later took Halliwell's sentence down 5 years, from 30 to 25 years, to award his honesty about killing ONE woman 😂😂😂 Wow, we gotta award psycho killers now with lesser sentences because they're not lying for once!

Fulcher is a hero and did nothing wrong. Stop protecting criminals 💩 And why were the other potential killings never followed up on? Why is police not interested to look into this, it's their friggin job!

I wonder where he is now. I hope he is living a good life. Better than what he would have had in the police. He certainly deserves it for being a decent man ..

Sometimes the letter of the law isn’t enough to bring justice to the extremes of real life. This is why juries are so important and it should not be left to individual judges to adjudicate right and wrong in such matters

Very proud of Steve Fulcher, as a former officer I feel he did everything right and acted in the highest traditions of the police service.

Just hope Wiltshire have a guilty consequences on this case steve you have and did the right thing .
