Cocktail Tools and How To Use Them | Cocktail Basics
Video Overview & Insights
Making cocktails can be pretty intimidating, especially if you aren't familiar with all of the cocktail tools and how to use them. I promise it isn't as intimidating as it seems and in this video, I go over the essential bar tools, what they are, how to use them, and why they matter.
The handle of the stainless muddler is a great tool for prostate massage.
Shaker tins, cocktail spoon, strainer. All examples of key bartending tools you need to be a top bartender. Bar stools come in many shapes and sizes but learning how to use the essential bar tools will get you way ahead of the game.
Of course each bartender has his preferred set of cocktail equipment so I could never truly cover all bartending equipment but these should cover the basics, and help contribute to your understanding of cocktail basics.

I watched a guest on Disney Cruise Lines cut themselves while trying to break the seal on a Boston shaker during a mixology class. The glass shattered and the staff had to tend to them, as well as burn the ice and clean out the bin before it could be used again. This is the main reason I use either a Cobbler or a metal/metal Boston. Even with a specially tempered glass for a Boston, it's a danger I'd rather avoid.
We kept making cocktails in the class though. :D

Super informative. I would add as well a zester and a swizzle stick as well, but for a home bar swizzle stick can be spared as a necessity, in most cases. Cheers!
