There is a man at my local parish that managed to walk the Camino on 10 euro a day but he said it was unbelievably hard.

My best friend and I are getting ready to plan our first Camino in a year. Your videos are so helpful. This was the fourth video Iâve watched, and you answered my biggest fear of maybe wanting to âhotelâ for our first short pilgrimage. Though, Iâm going to fight for one night at a hostel. Hostels are hard for older Americans on their first Euro trip. But they are part of the experience.
Youâre so kind to add this. â€â€
Thank you

thank you so much for this video, Iâm hoping to do (probably part of) the Camino later this year so youâve been very informative and to the point. in an age of ai and short form content genuinely your channel is such a gem, keep doing what youâre doing :)

My dad and I want to do this . I lost a son at 9 weeks old and my dad was the one doing CPR . I feel like this would help us so much . Thank you for the reviews and advice !!
@janaroberts6933bed bugs đ±
@stefanschacht2413I can't walk. This makes me sad.
@robinr3693Thanks for your advice!
@maryngshwuling9916Thanks for the awesome video! Wishing you the best of luck as a YouTuber, youâre doing great!
@bytecode5834They did last year the 800 km took them 34 days
The one thing he wanted to add, he said he would RESTED more. Stay overnight in one of the towns and rest their body as they started getting tired after the 30th 20 km a day.
Absolutely enjoyed your advice on the El Camino. I plan on doing it next spring in 2027.

Nice video & good advice. Question, the green jacket you wear brand?
@andersphanssonI am 5'1" petite 122 lbs I was not afraid for a minute. I got lost and called 211. I stood on the phone with the female police officer until the truck drive dropped me phone. I was not scared at all. Until an Italian man was trying to force me to make out with him at 4:30 am (when I was ready to start walking) at the last municipal Albergue before Santiago starting from Sarria. He did not speak English or Spanish but I showed him how mad I was. He backed off. I saved the Guardia Civil (Guardian) number 062 on my >>>>>>>> Phone # 211 policia and #062 the Guardians for the pilgrims. <<<<<<<very important numbers
@angelfire402How much spanish did you need to know?
@dayvudmorinWhat tip I'll give. Earplugs. Get used to wearing them first. They can feel awkward but they don't take long to get used to. That first night isn't time to wear them for the first time.
@CJonesAppleCan you address what to do with valuables etc?
@nicoeffem3483Excellent advice, well presented. Thank you.
@app321Who's doing laundry every day on a thru?
@wouldbang6928Always no nonsense advice in a steady delivery manner. I knew what was said to be the case but reinforcement doesnât hurt
@DaveJohnstone-j5wHi i have just started watching some of you're videos of the camino which are very helpfully i was wondering what is the best way to go about training for the camino thanks clint .
@clinthowland263I've done 6 different caminos and can say that this is all top advice. There are other things I'd add but once you get all those extras you end up with a 2 hour video.
Loved the mention of preparation. This is the biggest cause of failure I've seen; and the most failures is with a surprising group: gym bunnies. I've met many people who have turned up with a great physique, tan, great looking clothes (yes, almost all Italians) then failed miserably and had to completely drop out of the camino due to feet or leg problems. Of course the camino is learning and I've sat in the bar with these people all laughing together and they're telling me that they go to the gym 4-5 times a week and thought thats all they needed. So no accustomisation to walking with a pack and no accustomisation to their gear
Maybe you did mention this but the other big mistake I've seen is following the guide book.. its a guide only! It is not the camino!
âš..BE..HERE..NOW..âš
@emilottis3119I wonder about security when walking alone. Not so much my personal security but that of my gear. Will I have to take it everywhere with me to avoid being robbed? Even dinner in the evening? Or can I just take my valuable and trust the rest is safe in the alburgue?
@jdavery9684Thank you very much for your channel... one of my best friends and I have been contemplating on doing the Camino. But the planning logistics is a bit of a head turner, especially as the both of us are Nurses and we have to plan our leaves well and the amount of the walk we can do within the time/leaves we have. We have been reading and watching other resources as well, and your channel/videos has been one of the helpful resources we have... again, thank you!
@vinniejimenez7338Training for the Camino is really important because you will enjoy it more if youâre not just struggling to cope with the walking. You will have more band width for all the other things going on, views, food, people, etc. we have dogs so walk every day, but it isnât good training because the dogs want to sniff, meet and great, etc. but it is good for bedding your clothing in. To make it more useful then wear your rucksack. I pack mine with 6kgs and wear it all the time so my body learns to balance with it there.
@johnavery5384Beautiful, clear, simple guide and so nicely compacted! Thank you!
@kathypeterman2886Thanks!
@candibachtell1786Excellent overview! â€
@megansaussey7065Danke!
@xbr2520Mostly underestimated camino channel!! I hope to be able to start next year in April from St. Jean Pied de Port. Iâm worried about getting a place to sleep on the last 100 kilometres, because a lot of people got together there. German sources report more and more of pilgrims who leave at night and reserve beds for themselves and others very early. Have you already had such experiences? I donât want to make a reservation in advance.
Best regards from Germany
Great summary of all the key points.
@johnavery5384Just finished the Del Norte. Wouldn't know it exists by watching this video. I would encourage everyone to take a look, it was incredible.
I would also recommend taking 3 sets of walking outfits so you're not doing laundry every day.
Great advice. I love all your videos. Permit me to add; I try not to begin my Camino (9 times) at a weekend. Most pilgrims begin on a Sunday or Monday and I try to stay off-stageâless of a bed rush. Hydration Hydration Hydration. I donât ware headphonesâfirstly it tells others I donât want to engage and secondly I canât listen to the silence of the Camino. Due to family commitments, I can only do sections of 7â14 days. Donât put off doing the Camino because you donât have 5â6 weeks. One week on the Camino will nourish and sustain you. Remember itâs a journey (of the head and body) Finally, there are no answers on the Caminoâonly questions. Buen Camino.
@CantairiThanks
@paulcunningham2859Dan, a very informative video. Thank you. I will be walking the Camino Portuguese in May. Really looking forward to it. I was asked by my daughter yesterday to accompany my Granddaughter on her flight for her semester abroad in France. Of course I said yes. I am now trying to figure which Camino or section of a Camino to walk in early February for 7 to 10 days.
Thanks in advance for tips
Buen Camino
Eric
Great video, finally one that gives us the info we need. I'm "planning" to do the Camino Portuguese Coastal Route next year, not quite sure when, but will be going solo, so super excited!
@passionatelifeprojectI miss the camino. â€
@AbilovesjackThe fact that the author of this channel takes the time to individually answer questions and comments, in a kind and helpful way, is just so admirable. I should suggest this is the most helpful and best presented and thought-through YouTube channel about Camino planning.
@et7949Buenas noches.. Dan .. One Week to go .. Fly to Santiago.. training.. Iâve been walking 10 miles a day for the last 6 weeks ..
@paulbraby4903I've booked and have been training to slow walk the camino frances from SJPDP. I would depart starting April 18 and have given myself up to 56 days. However, after so much research I see so many negative comments about walking this time of year- specifically about the 'bed race". I would be alone and in my mid 50's. Am I going to have trouble finding albergues to stay in? Any tips about this? Thx.
@hilariusaquariusWith the help of many of yours and others videos, I feel better prepared and informed going into my first Camino.
1.89 days, Mozarabe (Malaga) then?
2.Feb (Winter/Spring). Love cold weather. Kind of an introvert.
3.budget; in the budget.
4.been training for months with 141 days to go.
5.Albergues, municipals bringing a sleeping bag.
6.packed 14.8 lbs. front pack 1.5lbs.
7.Fears and my own demonds are probably the most unpredictable part but am welcoming the âaha momentsâ and growth.
8.Buen Camino.
Thanks for a very informative video.
@anneokane7172why did I enjoy watching this, although Iâve walked 3 Caminos already? Must be a sign⊠hint hint⊠đđ
great work as always, Dan.
must watch for the Camino-Curious đ
