As someone who hands out samples as a job, people's frontal lobes shut off when they see free food. You could be talking about the product and they'll just be like "ye yea, what is it again??" You could say it has an allergen that they're allergic to and only then will they bother to check what the thing they're about to eat is

Edit : also, some demos (tho it's kinda rare) you aren't allowed to give one person more than one sample so that's probably why that lady was so strict with the samples bc no one that I work with ever really stops people from grabbing another sample

I think the reason why some lads are protective over their samples is they have to toothpick each of those samples into a cupcake liner by themselves. And that could get tedious sometimes 😅
