I noticed that too about the Gretzky sale. A card like that should’ve been auctioned at a bigger auction house or better eBay seller that could’ve done a better job marketing it. I’m a big fan of the IP autos where the auto is actually done well and not rushed or he’s drunk. I think vintage cards with IP autos are attractive as they were never done before. For modern it’s cheesy because you can just buy a licences auto product. You guys hate a little too much on the IP autos

Love the show guys! I have to say I agree with almost all your card opinions Phil. After the fact, in person autos on cards look HORRIBLE. Also thank you for calling out all the horrendous chicken scratch autos that seem to be prevalent with young rookies. They will eventually make a signed card less desirable than an autoless rookie.

While I agree wholeheartedly that it is an example of a perfect card, my only hesitance on the McDavid is that UD loooooves to do 03-04 exquisite tributes and I fear that may not be the last version of a 1/1 03-04 exquisite tribute for McDavid.
I also think the gold Celebrini is nicer with the shark teeth patch.

For me- Id be okay with autos on rookie cards for legends as long as the auto occurred when the player was still playing and closer to rookie year the better. However, theres no way to really prove that for IP autos
