@nikehusk3849I was walking on a trail with someone once and a male Anna’s swerved out in front of us, deliberately angling toward the setting sun, and the bright star of fuchsia that ignited was breathtaking. I had no idea before that how aware they were of the sun’s angle versus their hood versus your eyeline. It was also a little scary because he obviously wanted us to f-off. There’s something about having a hummingbird hover in front of you directly, like, am I going to lose an eye today?

iridescent colors can be used to attract a mate.
a certain display of colors can also communicate a wide variety of emotions. so the owner of a pet bird may be wondering for days why he just got bit without any warning. while all the while the bird could have been signalling with all his might he needed a quiet time.
and there is no doubt that the colors a bird produces with his wings helps to protect him from getting bullied by bigger birds.
So basically male hummingbirds attract females with their rizz
