Tonalic in Cubase and Nuendo: https://www.tonalic.com/cubase

๐ŸŽธ Tonalic is now deeply integrated into Cubase and Nuendo as an ARA plugin โ€“ built in close cooperation with Steinberg.

When Ryan Harlin heard that Tonalic now integrates deeply into Cubase as an ARA plugin โ€“ built

it's like Band-in-a-Box but better!

in close cooperation with Steinberg โ€“ he knew exactly who he wanted to show it to: hit producer

Ian Kirkpatrick (Sabrina Carpenter, Dua Lipa, Tyla).

I cant drag and drop in the main window project! why? I think everything its ok...

In this video, Ryan gives Ian his first hands-on tour of Tonalic โ€“ real session performances that

adapt to your chords, tempo, and groove, now living right inside the Cubase project instead of a

floating window. Watch a producer who works almost entirely in the box react to having a real

guitar player respond to his song in real time โ€“ exploring different players, shaping the feel, and

Amazing stuff. But $30 per month? Are you kidding me? Talk about subscription saturation!!!!!

โ€” @djmad

discovering Refine for the first time.

No AI, no loops, no MIDI. Just real musicians, now deeply integrated into Cubase and Nuendo.

Looks like a nice intergration with cuebase, the upgrade option from cubase 14 pro is ยฃ166, and then subscription for this. However it looks like it can be useful if like me you can not play 6 string. I would prefer a one off purchase, but expect it would be a high point of sale. I subscribe to East West Sounds who do regular updates which are included in the subscription. Its another option to consider and am grateful for this. I focus on wellbeing, I have retired now and all this amazing creativity really helps cognative balance. Nothing compares to.playing live but its great all these tools are available

Thank you for demonstrating this. It is great that Cubase now supports this ARA plugin. I downloaded and tried it, but I decided that it is not for me. I have a lot of virtual guitar instruments in Kontakt which are capable of doing a similar trick with much less hassle. The free version came with only acoustic and electric guitars, no drums, bass or keys. Being a guitarist myself, I mainly use virtual guitars for inspiration, or for fleshing out ideas, then I record myself playing a real guitar. I think it is good that Celemony finds new uses for their Direct Note Access technology. I just don't fit the bill. Besides, the UI is a mess! It is almost impossible to tell the different patterns apart since they are only represented by small icons resembling the patterns. Color schemes or pattern names would really be a help here. I tried setting up a track with a 'picking guitar'. While it did sound great, it gave me four(!) different guitar sounds when putting together a take from separate patterns - not even useable! The user is left completely in the dark when trying to choose patterns that work together. Finally, I am not a fan of subscription software, especially when the subscription amounts to double the amount one pays for a yearly Cubase update. If the free version had different instruments, instead of just guitars, I might find a use for it, but for now, this is not for me. Caveat Emptor...

0:23 Tonalic comes to Cubase

I'm almost 74, so I don't know who these players are. I want to use Cubase to create music that sounds more like Manfred Eicher's ECM Records circa the 1970s onward. So, what can Tonalic do for me? I seriously doubt that there is a bassist who plays like Eberhard Weber or Arild Andersen, or a guitarist who plays like Ralph Towner, or a drummer who plays like Jon Anderson. I'm not interested in making music for today's kiddies. I wouldn't know a Dua Lipa if I tripped over her.

0:55 How Tonalic works

2:05 Exploring and previewing along to your chords

All money going to computer programmers more, and leaving out the actual people who invested years in the craft.

We will have whole lot of players in crime because the part that used to give them bread when they are not performing live is replaced by monthly payment to an AI app.

I'm not saying we should not have explored this but it is as if programmers now redirect money to themselves and investors while destroying sources of incoming of people who actually play. If a producer needed a session player, they had to save money to hire them. They would then play, the producer pays them and they would take care of their families. Now, if I subscribe to this, it is as if I'm hiring only people who worked on this software.

All was good until I looked at the purchasing options. You can't actually purchase Tonalic, it's a ##$@!^ subscription model. You will lose a lot of potential customers by using the subscription model. Companies think they are smart until they go out of business and wonder what happened. It's happened to many, many companies.

IAN !!!!! HELLO BUDDY HOW'S GOING, WE MISSED U A TONNN

@gianmarcorosso
@

So I guess I have to buy cubase to get this stupid thing to work? Tonalic and Scaler 3 for some bizarre reason are the only plugins I have that doesn't work. The moment it comes up I get the Spinning wheel of death. Never stops. I let it run once for 15 minutes before I deliberately crashed the session to get it to stop. If it's me that's the problem then why do all my other plugins work with out a problem.

This is exactly how you make GENERIC music... if you really want to succeed in music today, you need to avoid using these copy-paste clichรฉs. Ian probably gets paid to say "this is awesome" but he would never use these in reality.
