Easy way to debone and fillet a chicken thigh - a "how-to" tutorial
Video Overview & Insights
Deboning and filleting a chicken thigh is easy and a great introduction to butchery and learning good knife control.
Great video!,Thank you.
A chicken thigh is quite a fatty cut of chicken and is perfect for chicken teriyaki https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJ0IMjAzUzA

Thanks for the nice and simple and clear instructions, and the close up of the knife skills. I ordered a pack of skinless, deboned thighs...but they delivered the good old fashioned thigh with bone and skin. Now I need to debone them all LOL. Wish me good luck. (I am sure I will be fine :))

I bought a Tojiro honesuki to debone chicken.
Going to be saving about $20-$35 a week by doing this instead of buying already boneless meat.

You make it look so easy but it's not easy! That must be a very sharp knife.
@mrearlygoldWow .. this was EXACTLY the video I needed!! Thank you!
@ordinary.american.beautyGreat vid thank you mate
@arthurdownes5198Dang, that’s a clean bone, chef!
@susandavisrdhThank you so much for this!
@scrapper2675Lovely clear instructions! I have to laugh though--if there is a "top" and "bottom" of a thigh bone, like you say, I have never heard of it, or how to tell the difference!
@teebee1204What brand of knife is that? It’s gorgeous!❤
@GreengirljmtThank you, the camera angle was perfect. Most of them are so far away I have a hard time seeing the details.
@NurseDethat was the most beautiful deboning of a chicken thigh I've ever seen that bone came out clean I try very hard to do it but it doesn't come out like that LOL
@valenguajardo6625Hi 🙂. I enjoyed your video. Do you have a video on how to cut Chicken Bones in half. I know some people make Broth & Soup w/Chicken Bones that have been severed & therefore, Marrow is released from the Chicken Bones creating a more Delicious Broth/ Soup. ThnQ & TYFS!!!👍👍👍.
@abigailvomelmo1167I've looked at many videos tutorials on this and this is the cleanest I've ever seen thank you so much I hope I can do it as well as you
@valenguajardo6625Perfect 👌
@secretov1dachicken does not have hair - it is feather
@3RomeoFoxtrotHairs!!! 😂
@YelpBullhornThank you very much for this tutorial. I kept having so much meat left on the bone. I can see now that it was because of the way I was not angling the knife. Much appreciated.
@PammyAnn77Just come across. I've saved it. Extremely helpful thank you!
@ellemetcalf110Brilliant video
@benbottoms3231The only place chicken skin belongs is in the garbage
@troyb6036Is your knife double edged? I can't say I've seen chef knifes doubled edged.
@deadbolt56Weight wise how much will removing the bone/excess lose? The 1kg packs are good value but if 500g of it is bone it seems less worth it
@TheRiv360Hairs??
I don’t know where you get your chicken, but I wouldn’t buy the hairy ones.
its over man
@catharsis9789Super helpful man. Thanks.
@benharrington5875I see that you illiterates have once again misused the term “BONED”. If boning a chicken thigh is removing the bones from a piece of chicken, which it is, what then is “DEBONING”? Is it putting the bones back in?
@jamescomeaux3620That is great, will you make one where part of the back is attached to the thigh. Leg quarters come that way
@mamabear52Beautiful man, spot on information and presentation. Thank you :)
@bmartin7961Great instructional video
@hellohandsome9875What kind of knife is he using?
@timeforriceGreat demo……..thank you
@blackhorse2947I save so much by buying thighs bone-in (in place of breasts ready to go) but I always hated the process. This looks so much easier than what I've been doing, thank yoooouu <3
@mmiii7961This is the BEST tutorial on this, ever!!!😊❤️
@joeygirl314Q. May I ask what size/type (utility?) of knife are you using? And your best recommendations please??
Am I crazy to try this with a 8 inch chef? 7" Santoku? Or do I buy a boning knife? I'm just starting my collection.
Thank you for the help. Great video! :)
Absolutely beautiful.
@oliverholland7236Thank you for the upload
@carolynt8864You did not show how to remove the pelvis SMH OMG that's the most difficult part and what chicken thigh doesn't have a pelvis
Thanks for wasting my time as removing the thigh bone is almost self-explanatory 👌
An excellent demonstration of how to fillet a chicken thigh. Thanks.

I watched several videos and your technique is by far the best! and saving the bones for stock was a good suggestion, thank you!
@Jessie-zz2Thank you 😊

@brandymangrum3722Wow that's actually faster than how the butcher does it!
