Ed Sheeran’s Tiny Desk (home) concert from 2021 was a huge moment for NPR Music. During a time of uncertainty, his show — now at nearly 15 million views — honored the intimate nature of our platform while also reimagining his work. We knew that when the time was right, Sheeran would step behind the real Desk and that time is now.

I’m sorry but he is a terrible musician. His lyrics read like a boring anecdote and there is a serious lack of melody. No wonder he got sued for stealing someone’s music. His songs sound like any other song that has been written for the last fifty years. Between a musician like hozier and this guy there’s no comparison. The rapping section at 6:46 is awful. His singing belongs in a middle school talent show

@thejob12345i stopped everything that I did to watch ed performs camera, the way its just him, closing his eyes and his guitar. he sings with so much emotion and I'm sitting here in awe. One day, one day, I will sing this song like him, in front of a crowd. That's what life is, meaningful music for everyone to enjoy. Well lets goo i can do it!
@DaFatPig2093I have to say, I've never been a fan of Ed Sheeran, but listening to his solo, real time loop etc and just him stripped back singing /acoustic has given me a new found respect for the guy. I wish he'd put out more acoustic stripped back simplified stuff. I was also struck my how many of his songs had a hidden folk vibe. Most of what he played felt like they would work well played on Fiddle, Whistle, Bodhran as well as acoustic.
