End Of An Era - Onboard Lifestyle ep.394
Video Overview & Insights
On this weeks episode of Onboard Lifestyle, as Tropical Storm Arthur disrupts our projects on basik, it gives us a moment to reflect on how our cruising experience has shaped Emma's life. The conversation touches on a few topics that reassures the crews choice to make such an important life changing decision. Come back next time as we anticipate a more gentle weather pattern so we can get back to our projects...see you then!

SHIP'S STORE:
The lessons and experiences that Emma was able to have on Basik can't be learned in any school. Take pride in the wonderful job that you two have done as great parents! My younger daughter is also heading off to college in the fall, so I know how you guys must feel. Such conflicting emotions as to be excited to see your baby grow up and ready to spread her wings, and still wanting to hold her in your arms tight as though she was still a baby.
Want to purchase our sv basik gear? Check our our Merch Store and show us some love by grabbing a shirt or two! Designed by our Swabby Emma:

@alpdemiralp9721Thanks guys! 😊 congratulations Emma!
@trevhedgesCongrats to the grad!! You set an amazing example Emma and are a credit to your awesome parents! Great video as always guys, looking forward to your continued adventures (college and boating).
@robertmunafo5039What a joy Emma has been on this channel and I can only imagine how proud you both are of her. Best wishes to the whole crew. Well Done!!!!
@dion6146We live off of 146 and the "storm" was kind of a hoax...we kept waiting for a storm to hit. It was a little hard to mow our lawn, but that was about it... Meanwhile, we have been watching Onboard Lifestyle ever since Emma was a little girl and we thought she was cute and very smart right from the get go. We were right. Congratulations to all of you. Nice job Lihn, Teal and Emma.
@nicholasbigney4143Thank fugg boats float
@BurtKwouk77Congratulations Emma! Well done! You're a credit to your amazing parents and I'm sure they're really proud of you!
I had to laugh at 1781, from England 🤣, don't ask the Egyptians!
I suppose a cruising boat is a great place to start playing a violin without too much risk of annoying your neighbours 🙂!
That's some impressive rain😊!
Good luck with whatever comes next!
Looking forward to Emma's pop-ins!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@angelramoncordootero4800❤ All Choked Up ❤
@scottjones5221Watching this is both sad and having a great deal of proud for Emma. As a father I went through the exact same thing. You guys did a fantastic job with Emma and this is just the beginning. My daughter went on to become a nurse in the military as an officer.
@robertmays9321👋🙂👍 delightful …………….🤪
@DanielTiffany-o8iYou both did the right thing as parents Teal & Linh. Emma got a different type of cruising education than most kids her age will never get to experience ever.
She is smart and talented, passionate about her music, learning new things in exotic locations most teenagers would have no clue about.
She can fix things on a boat too, thanks to her dad's instructions over the years. A back up career to her future career choice in nursing. Proud parents matter!
She'll go far in her next chapter as a young adult. Time for her to spread her wings and fly the coop, while you two prepare basix for its next journey ahead.
I'm worried about Compass though. How will the little furball handle Emma not being around on a daily basis?
After hurricane season leaves the Gulf region, you'll be able to explore & experience the Caribbean with a different perspective.
As one era ends another one begins. Congratulations Emma. Soon as it stops raining back to boat projects Teal & Linh.
Very Interesting
@mysurlytrucker7510You guys gave Emma an abundance of positive life lessons and experiences that a normal upbringing just can’t give to kids. Congratulations on raising an incredibly smart, talented and well-rounded young lady!! 👏👏👏👏
@rustycomer8502Congrats Emma :)
@USAMOTORHOMEObviously, you made the right choices for Emma.
@dennismcquoid9751Congratulations, Emma! We'll be anxious to follow your next chapter!
@debbiehaynes8295Good job parents! 😎🤘
Beautiful talents young woman! 👏👏
As a long time follower, I found myself feeling proud of you.. Below my monitor I have your 2026 Graduation card.. Looking forward to all upcoming videos.. Love you guys
@stevenh2502Ms. Emma please keep being a sweet girl. Wear a gas mask when your dad does his epoxy!
@AngierManNCThank for the video.
@erareika8784I can't be the only one who remembers "pop up Emma"... All change is fodder for sadness, and the foundation of pride and serenity. Well done, crew...
@lancer525Is Emma going to College on a full ride Musical Scholarship?
@rayb3117Dude put the phone down and drive. Very bad example.
@NaultarousYou guys take care ok been watching this on the national news stay safe ok 👌 🙏 👍 ❤ 💙 😊 👌
@benwilliams174I quess Emma is going to college now take care Emma miss you 😘 ❤ 💗 💓 💕 💖 😘
@benwilliams174I've always appreciated Emma doing the sign off. She has grown into a very impressive woman and I wish the best for all of the Basik crew.
"See you then!"
Homeschooling was 1000% the right choice, I just hope college doesn't unravel all that hard work.. Congrats on your achievements so far Emma, I'm sure with the solid foundation your parents instilled in you, there will be many many more good things to come. Also as young adult it would be very good timing to learn about what it means to be human in this world, why we act the way we do, why we think what we think and what truly grounds your spirit to live a true and happy life. God speed to a great future.
@HandyCCongratulations to Emma on her graduation from HS and to you for the smart and beautiful lady you raised.
@arthurcravens591Congrats Emma on graduating! And best of luck in college!
@Arcane-Wisdom1Sadly schools today are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to education. Here in New Mexico we are 50th in the Country. I pray the Texas school system is much better for Emma's sake! Thanks for the videos!
@jhaedtlerI worked in Houston for seven years. Flooding on a regular basis. 🌊
@M-SwedeOkay, who else is getting weepy. 😢
@georgejang3512Yay! An episode without a boat project. I've never been in Texas so I was glad to see the surrounding area you're in, even if it was a bit wet out. Also glad to see a little more of family life, thanks for sharing. Can't wait till you are back to traveling again.
@CrazyWistThe obvious and excellent contributions Emma has made helping this channel over the years will be a fantastic resume entry that not very many people on this planet can display. Outline her YouTube channel contributions like you were a corporate boss putting together instructions for a new project for an employee to complete. Being a contributing crew member on a totally self-contained Blue water sailboat I'm sure gives her an exceptional problem-solving mindset. I'm betting growing up in a small "house" requires a social discipline that will also help her immensely going forward. I actually cannot think of ANYTHING ELSE offhand that would prepare her to be a more productive complete confident member of society. I have a couple of sisters that are supermodel gorgeous and also driven. They have had a couple of tough lessons with not so nice members of society that would make great criminal minds episodes. Hopefully she will learn to be in physical proximity of people who care for her 24/7/365. One of my sisters was almost kidnapped more than once in broad daylight in the middle of downtown Dallas. She was by herself all three times. My girlfriend in college scheduled every single thing around having someone to go with!
@AndyB-l8dI remembered every flashback. Emma is a remarkable young woman. Love the reminiscing, yet looking forward to what’s next and new growth. ❤
@HopeOfJoeYou chose wisely.
@karlfairI started watching this channel waaay back when you were still working on SV basik up in Washington state.. Emma was tiny (Linh was taller than Emma at the time). You all have done a wonderful job parenting her; as Emma has done a wonderful job at being a great kid, and now a beautiful and talented young lady; with a great foundation from mom and dad. She brings great credit to herself, her parents, and the entire crew of SV basik; as well as the patrons and entire viewership!
Great Wishes for your future, Emma; you don't need luck (remember that you engineer the heck out of making your own luck, thats how you own the luck you've made for the design and effort you put in)!
Fair winds and following sea, always!
John, Teresa, Abbey, Shannon, and Jennifer
P.S. Consider a college music major degree; and minor degree in nautical engineering!
What a fantastic commentary on Emma's years growing up on the boat. No matter what video you put out, Emma was always the star of the show without even trying. Good luck and Godspeed Emma... college won't know what hit them when you walk onto the campus for the first time. And I mean that in the most positive of ways.
@briankillian5248Your guys are truly one of a kind. As long as you keep sailing, we keep watching.
@onnorijpstraI was wondering was she first chair in the ocastra?
