Why spend 58k, when I can get the same thing from Vunqera for $1100 with box and papers... doesnt make sense to me. I got a watch for every day of the week from them, and still its half the price of the bullshi* you give "value" to. I got my first vunqera Rolex hyperclone, not even people that have the real thing noticed the differennce

looking for a watch to keep myself off phone at times. I thought it would be better to buy a watch that's $100 or more, so i did excluded MANY cheaper yet durable watches. Though, i think it would be best to just buy an off brand watch that cost around $3-$10 just to get comfortable with having a watch. Thanks for the video, that made me realize what kind of watch i'd look for in the future

Shame you have to be cautious and diplomatic in your videos, for legal reasons, etc. Good placement of the meme footage, though, during certain bits of dialogue.
I'll say it, then. Steer clear of fashion, designers and sports brands who do crappy, cheaply made, watches as a side line, with huge mark ups for them (Armani, Michael Kors, Nixon, Umbro, Adidas, etc). A lot of them are made by Fossil.
Steer clear of Fossil and Invicta. Materials and Quality Control are shit. I had an Ellesse, years ago, probably made by Fossil and the dial went loose and started turning. The case was plated brass which soon wore down to the copper underplating below the thin layer of chrome.
Buy Japanese, Swiss or German made.
On a budget, buy Casio. They are respected. G-Shocks are amazing. So are Seiko, Citizen and Orient quartz watches, solar, mechanical and automatic.
Buy the best that your budget can buy. Stretch it to the max. You will be rewarded with performance, peace of mind, longevity, beauty, functionality and 'feel good factor'.
Something that puts a spring in your step.
I'd spend up to ยฃ800 or a grand on a good Seiko / Citizen. Up to 3 grand, or maybe even 5 on one of the big Swiss makes.
I have two ยฃ1k Swiss ones. A Ball Fireman Enterprise and a Longines Hydroconquest. Both have modified Swiss ETA movements. They're as close to perfection as my eyes can tell. I've worked for them and I feel a million dollars when I wear them.
I also have Chinese homage watches with Seiko movements, Japanese solar and radio controlled quartzies and automatics and several G-Shocks.
The current count is 22. Actually, if I could consolidate that collection into 4, 5 or 6 better, more expensive, watches, I would.
Seiko dive watches and Casio radio controlled solar modules rule! Especially if they are in a G-Shock or a steel or titanium case from the Edifice and Oceanus product lines, too.
Just get the ideas that Michael Kors, or anything in the shopping mall Watches-R-US stores, that they put in your head with marketing and advertising, out of your head, and you will probably be fine.
Same goes for these 'we cut out the middle man' scammers like DW and MVMT, as well!

So a Hamilton: Titanium, Automatic, Diver watch up to 1000m - you know the one from Tenet, for 2k is basically paying for the brand in 2025? :) I am just curious what your take is on the topic.

1. Do I like the way it looks?
2. Will it work? Especially. will it keep time accurately?
3. Will it be comfortable?
4. Will it last a reasonably long time?
5. Brand, otherwise is meaningless.

Thank you, this video was incredibly informative. I am looking for a new watch for myself under 300โฌ, yet the ideal design would be skeleton. This by design makes it difficult to find good looking pieces that are legit and within the budget too.

I am looking to buy an automatic wristwatch with a metal band. But I am totally unfamiliar with what brands have what quality. What brands offer the type of watch I want, while being worth the money for quality? What I mean by this is I do not want to pay money for the brand name, I want my money to actually go to watch quality. I would be willing to spend up to a few thousand, maybe 3-4K at most.

Ben's Watch Club tends to cover affordable watches like Seiko, Timex, Casio, Citizen, MVMT, Vincero, Bulova, Orient, Hamilton, and more. We rarely feature luxury watches like Rolex, Patek Philippe, Breitling, Tag Heuer, Tudor, Grand Seiko, Cartier, Omega, Audemars Piguet, or Hublot due to their price.
Regarding case and face materials? Do you have insight on "hardened treated" stainless steel? Also, in re faces, where does Gorilla glass" land? Thx.

Very rolex
@marioschzGreat video Ben, I've only recently stumbled across your channel and I completely agree with your points especially on brands. having owned an Armani watch in the past, I can tell you from experience that they're a tad overrated. This was because of the fact that the battery life was poor, it required changing after every couple of months, whereas most watches have 2-3 year life span. I eventually changed it after 2 years and got a Sekonda watch that I still have now and works well bearing in mind I got in 2018. I've only had to change the battery twice in the space of 6 years.
My best bit of advice is to everyone is to go for watch specialist brands such as Accurist, Seiko, Citizen, Casio, Lorus, Sekonda, Rotary, Tissot (look for discounts anything under ยฃ250 is a good price as these can be quite pricey) as opposed to designer brands despite how alluring they may seem, you'll thank me later haha. The specialist ones will not only have a better build quality, but they'll last considerably longer as well.
That's it! I've been looking at mechanical watches too long. I recognised the Seagull 1963 movement (ST1901) the instant you started talking about mechanical watches.
@occamraiserAn important note on chronographs, they cost quite a bit more to service!
@vangledoshThe biggest thing is. Dont buy expensive watches you cant afford. The amount of lads you see about with a rolly on but then going to work in maccies. Like they paid pees on a watch thats worth more than their salary.
@ADG5902Damn I love my Casio and if any enthusiast tries to tell me it doesn t have a soul because it is quartz I will fucking explode
@potato9291Solid video.
@xuealejandroavendanopiment1094Who loves quartz? Simple, affordable, no maintenance & beauties ๐
@kevaltachak8092When you buy a watch , do I like it and how likely is it that it'll be ripped off my wrist.
@johnburrows3385Do you recommend me to buy a casio mtp v005d as my first watch cause I love metale bracelet watches with a simple design and a small case that goes with my stockholm style??
@Firas.benmabrouk123Anyone know the model number of that reverse panda Accurist chronograph @ 3:24?
@BarryAngryi had a gf once buy me a watch , shee got me a sort of fashion fake chronograph , watch stop working after a year , bracelet lock broke , the case coroded , if shee had got me a analog casio for the same price , i may still have it ,
@darkphotographerGifting a piece of garbage is less painful than buying one for yourself though...
@D-generonAlso avoid fashion watches.
