F-15 EX Eagle II performs Unrestricted Climb

The Streak Eagle (McDonnell Douglas F-15A Serial No. 72-0119) is a heavily modified, early pre-production F-15. Between January and February 1975, it shattered eight world time-to-climb records, reaching up to 98,425 feet in just 3 minutes and 27.8 seconds. To achieve its mind-boggling climb rates, engineers stripped everything unnecessary off the aircraft, including the radar, fire control system, internal cannon, speed brake actuators, and paint. This dropped the fighter’s weight by 2,800 pounds and gave it an incredible thrust-to-weight ratio greater than 1.15:1. Pilots used a special hold-back device to run the engines to full afterburner, releasing the jet into an unrestricted vertical climb

Back in 80's at the Abbotsford airshow , i grew up 1 mile south east of the airport, the day afterward half the aurcraft would leave. Of All the jets, even the Russian one's, the Climb of the old F 15 c was bar none the fastest, most impressive exit stage up. Some sounds in life you never forget, that was one. Can't wait till Alberta becomes a free country abd we buy a few F 15 EX Strike Eagles 2's just to throw a finger at Canada , i hate socialism!

Bullshit, you can get get an unrestricted climb, but there's always a ceiling to that climb.

If you want to you can skip halfway though this and see the takeoff. But you will still be underwhelmed.

Working near Tinker AFB I saw an F-15 do EXACTLY THIS! I try to tell folks what I saw, and they don't quite understand the angle of ascent. The only thing cooler I've ever seen up close was the Blue Angels using my part of SW OKC for training and practice before a local airshow. 100 ft flybys... so badass.

I saw many of these at Holloman AFB in New Mexico. Awesome is an understatement.

I measure climb rate at 240 metres per second for 32 seconds so it reached a height of 7700 metres/25000 feet +/-10% about ground before leveling off. (32 x 19.5 x12)

Was at Klamath Falls Oregon airport in my little Grumman Tiger doing my before takeoff run-up. 2 F-15Cs rolled past and positioned for takeoff. First one then maybe 5 seconds later the other punched full afterburner immediately. They leaped off the runway and quickly went wheels up then 90 degrees straight up like rockets, 12 rings each from afterburners. The sky was clear and they disappeared in seconds. The sonic energy from being so close was like our headphones were not there. My passenger claimed it caused him to loose a filling from a tooth😂.

1978, airshow at McConnell AFB. My brother and I were the first car through the gate when it opened. An F-15 was taxiing as we parked. We watched the takeoff roll of about 1500,' pulled to vertical and climbed out of sight. It was awesome.

When Tom Cruise did this he bent the airframe and the plane was unable to fly again! 😉

Back in the early 80's I was a weapons troop on F-15 at Nellis, 57th AGS, 433rd AMU. Whenever there was a max climb pretty much the entire flight line stopped and watched. It was incredible to witness first hand.
