Hope your trip to the Alps went well, it's a lovely (?) drive, well once past Dijon anyway, was it snowy, do people use normal summer tyres or are winter / all season tyres now the norm?

So, we are unlikely to enjoy conditions as seen in Canada / USA. The images from Toronto look very entertaining.

I am not surprised the temperature for the Winter is above average and up on last year with all the rain. Significantly my best solar export so far this year on 4th January hasn't been touched and that is with getting on for an hour's extra potential sun since the solstice..

Far far better then the Met office BS!

One thing We've noticed the Weather App and other services are getting it wrong for this part of Wales
That last storm they had us down for Yellow warning for Rain we had gusts over 85 MPH, The house has taken so much damage these storms are getting worse just as repairs are made along comes another.
Its happening right now all the Apps saying Rain expected around 5pm its been pouring the last 2 hours.
This part of Wales we expect rain these winds are downright scary.

This so called spell has been in the headlines since December, our winters are Mild and wetter than average now, long range models chop and change so often regarding cold and snowy conditions, Spring will arrive early hopefully, cheers Brian.

I think you and mark vogan are on to something here. If you can't have snow in the UK , then you go to where it can be found. I'm that unlucky I could book a holiday skiing, and the resort would be snowless. Meanwhile back in the UK they're being pummeled by the beast from the east. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚Plenty of snowdrops in north Essex πŸ™πŸ™

What an absolute waste of time forecasts are from 5 days out, you can’t even get the next day right πŸ™„

Winter truly is the season that just never ends and even more brutal cold on the way. I just wish people would take a moment to reflect on the pain and suffering this causes people. When every day is purely a battle for survival against the cold. The next few weeks are looking very scary and will probably be the end of me but who cares if it means "coldies" can see some ice.

Looking like an overall fairly mild and very wet winter.
