I’m considering if I should get this card. I already have the ritz, brilliant, Hyatt and aspire but I’m getting bored and want something else.

Platinum status is great overseas, particularly in Asia. I use the hell out this card and my Hilton Surpass card. It's just the wife and I so we eat out too much and rack up points for resto's, take out and gas. Hilton gives 6x points on groceries, which are great when we get tired of eating out. I hope Chase brings out a higher end IHG card that has Diamond Elite status; I would gladly pay whatever for it and the perks.

With the IHG platinum status, I was given a suite that overlooked the capital building, had a soaking tub, came with snacks and sparkling water, and had an outdoor patio (not a balcony…this seating area had ROCKS) at the Kimpton Sawyer in Sacramento (the hotel where the Kings have their residences). It was my second stay.

I have to say I do find that the Holiday Inn Express is nicer than Hilton's Hampton Inns....just a tad more expensive though, But I agree......DON'T SLEEP ON THE IHG PREMIER CARD!

Luke why is it after watching this video I think you are going diving for Treasure in the Caribbean?! ;-P

IHG is my favorite hotel and card, I’ve gotten upgrades many times, I’ve gotten free breakfast which as been beneficial for me. I’m been thinking about using this as my daily driver which I will now, Ty for the advice.

I love the low annual $99 and if your spend is 20k the card is free . And I am fine with more economical hotels so its great they have such a large selection.

had a question. i am 24 years old and want to get into travel points. i wanted the amex gold but i cant seem to get above the 60k welcome offer. i’ve applied a ton of times and done the methods of incognito and referrals. am i better off just getting chase sapphire preferred for now since its a lower fee and higher sign up bonus and then hope down the line I get a better amex deal? Please if anyone could help!!

Great card for the road tripper! Thanks for the info + video!

@jimmyjames6492
@

good video to focus on those of us with families.

another card to consider is one key +. 2% for everything and 3% for dining/groceries/gas along with 20% off hotels and $350. it's not status for the big hotel chains, but if you use Expedia, vrbo, or Airbnb it looks fantastic

I’m glad to have the IHG One Rewards Premier card. I am doing a road trip around Nevada’s Great Basin and Holiday Inns out here have come in clutch where Hilton and Marriott have no options available. Gotta hold the holy trifecta (Hyatt rides sidecar for me) to be a road trip warrior. 💪

One of my favorite cards. And my first real credit card back in the day. Love the 4th night free.

lol did you get hair plugs Uncle Luke?

@cascadiaadvancedmanufactur2034

My wife has the personal card, I have the business version. 4th night free is great, but Platinum doesn’t get lounge access, even here in Asia. At least we now get free water and free upgrades, though it’s rare to get a suite compared to Marriott and Hilton.

@DC_Consulting_DC

One of my favorite cards, worth it for 4th night free alone.

I got this card specifically last year for Yellowstone and used the entire welcome offer on a hotel just outside of Yellowstone as it was practically the only non boutique hotel available near there. It was crazy over priced for what it was but everything there is so it was either use the points or sleep in the car. like you have said before, cent per point doesn't trump free and experiences! PS I have done multiple multi state road trips the last few years...always neat to see parts of the country that are normally fly over country

If i already own the chase sapphire resever should i still apply for this card ?

The perk with platinum status is that they treat you like a king while checking in and my wife thinks it’s hilarious when they thank me for being a platinum member 😂
But really you just get a water bottle every so often lol

Looking forward to trying this one out once im under 5/24

When I went to Philadelphia last month they upgraded me to a top-floor corner suite at the Kimpton Monaco with Platinum status. IHG has treated me well so far. We used the five free night certificates from SUB for our stay in Aruba last August.

I love this card for road trips in the USA 🇺🇸 but love it even more when I’m in Asia. I recently booked a hotel in Bali for 5,500 pts per night!!! AMAZING 🤩

I am a fan of IHG, but plan use it more in Asia when I retire. I try to buy gas at Costco though, so wish it was a Visa.

IHG Premier is highly underrated! Still love my Surpass but the IHG card is on the list to get.

@OfficialEricGao
@

I like my IHG cards, the Premier and the business card, and I like staying at several Crowne Plazas(despite so many of the staff being kind of rude) but a penny a point? And hyping the extra 10k points for TWENTY THOUSAND SPEND? That's 5-7 SUBs. Just get the card(s) like this creator says, he's right about them being good cards. Use your annual free night, sign up for their dining program and try to use the 4th night free when you can. You don't get crazy value like the old Hyatt days but you definitely get way more value than the $99 annual fees

I need more hotels with high points redemption
Is there anywhere a list?

@SrulyRosenberg-g6n

Gas prices are killing road trips right now. If you can get free hotel nights that would make up some of the difference but there are really not that many cool places to go once you have actually done any real travel.

@cjhan47
@

This card’s SUB and 4th night free are going to good use for me in December at the Kimpton Seafire. Thanks for sharing what a great redemption that resort is!

Just got the card for the 185k bonus and it covers a lot of my spend (gas, dining, occasional bus/Lyft rides) I just wish it had a higher grocery earning then it would be an one card setup as a single guy in his 30s (I also have the capital one duo so I'm already spoiled enough) otherwise great video

@leostar76

I've actually gotten great value out of the card's Platinum status. I got the card last summer and got room upgrades on my first 2 reservations, including getting upgraded to a suite at a hotel in Virginia Beach. Also, many times I've travelled to a big city I've stayed at IHG hotels because they're near public transit, making it super easy to get around without relying on rideshare.

I’m late 30’s and had blue collar parents. Road trips were all we took and we usually only took 1 a year. Most families I knew also road tripped their vacation. I didn’t get in my first plane until I was 18, and shipped out to Army Basic Training.

@unlisted-x2y

Diamond status is worth it. This saved me $45 on breakfast each morning on my 4 night stay at the IHG hotel in San Francisco.

I picked up this card during the holiday season. Ironically I booked 4 countries in Europe(past, and in the future), and a in Dallas with IHG. That’s more than I planned on staying at a IHG property. All of them were actually nice. Our stay in Madrid in April, they gave us a free upgrade, which that specific room included Lounge Access, but they said it really wasn’t included. As nice as they are, they gave us free lounge access anyway for free, for our four night stay. I don’t have any status except for what the card comes with. Oh I forgot I did purchase that ambassador status so I don’t know if that helped. Part of that stay was booked thru the Chase Edit, so we had a lot going on there.

What I value the most is purchasing points at 100% bonus on sale, and the 4th night free in points. I opened a IHG account for my partner, (not the credit card), just to be able to purchase more points because you can only purchase so many per year. I’m gonna max out our points purchase for this year, and next year on both of our accounts. We’re going to head to South East Asia in 2028, and I hear IHG does really well there. If I get status on this car, but won’t be intentionally.

So I’m gonna assume that status matters outside of the United States. Most of these hotel credit cards being in the USA is like living on Krypton. Nobody is special until you leave the planet. 🌞 then the powers kick in.

As far as spending $20,000 for $100, plus 10,000 Bonus points, it’s cheaper to just purchase points on sale. This is only if you don’t spend on the card but wants some IHG points. As far as spending on properties, most times I Rakuten because that’s 11X Amex points. I also purchase points with my Rakuten card because that’s 6X Amex points. Usually my method earns me Amex when purchasing IHG points at the same time. Thanks to Bilt Palladium, I don’t spend as often on Amex anymore, so this is how I earn Amex points now. This will always be a keeper card. I actually meant to get the Hyatt Cars, but I’m glad I didn’t. I found more IHG properties at places I visited, and planning to going to.

My IHG card took the sting out of the higher prices for my trip to Portugal this summer. 😀

Can you combine a 1 free night cert, pay with points for 2 more nights, and still get the 4th night free?

IHG platinum get you full breakfast at Regent Taipei. Not fake continental bread and juice. Full Asian standard breakfast buffet.

This is the one card in my wallet that gets a healthy workout each quarter. Big big fan of IHG. They have upgraded me every single stay * looking at you Hilton ** I try my best to buy the max points when possible. 🔥 video Luke!

Great video. I also like the Citi Strata Premier for roadtrips. 3x on gas/EV, restaurants, and groceries. Perfect card for roadtrips.

Comment #2: overseas Platinum Status means more. Voco Podgorica I booked the suite for same # of points as reg room and they gave me free breakfast, they made my specialty coffee and omelette to order and I could eat anything off the Buffett. At the IC Ljubljana gave me club access for lunch, snick snacks, drinks and evening canapes drinks. (FYI. Not my favorite hotel & would not recommend)

@Tio_Ricco

Sounds good Luke. Sitting in Costa Rica again. On the beach next weekend overlooking the Pacific. Took advantage of the 2-day sale $50 off Citi Travel booked and also using $100 Hotel credit for Strata Premier
