Homemade McDonald's French Fries Recipe | Get the Dish

Video Overview & Insights

While everyone might have their own thoughts on the rest of the menu, one thing we can all agree on is that McDonald's french fries reign supreme when it comes to eating some perfectly crispy and flavorful potatoes. But what makes them so good? Well thanks to MythBuster's Grant Imahara we learned a little bit about the process and then took those tools to engineer the best french fry we could make at home.

McDonald’s French fries are way less golden than that.

McDonald’s French fries are proprietary stuff. it’s not just any potato... it’s specially grown breed licensed to farmers who can sell only to McDonalds and if they sell it in open market they will be sued.. Simply saying you can’t make it at home.. period

DIRECTIONS

When do you desire Runcorn Cheshire?

— @gettrick32

Peel potatoes and julienne the peeled potatoes into shoestring french fries. They should be 1/4-inch by 1/4-inch thick and about 4 inches to 6 inches long.

In a large bowl combine corn syrup and water, being sure to mix throughly until the corn syrup is evenly distributed. Add the french fries to the sugar water solution. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes.

How to make McChicken sauce?????

— @lucaslorenzzoni

While the french fries are soaking, in a heavy bottomed stock pot or deep fryer, heat peanut oil in a deep fryer until it reaches 375ÂşF.

Remove french fries from sugar water and pat dry. Carefully add them to the oil and partially fry them for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. They should just start to turn a light golden brown. Remove them from the fryer and place on a paper towel-lined plate. Place them in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes.

While they're cooling, add the beef fat to the peanut oil. Heat the oil to 400ÂşF. Remove the french fries from the freezer and carefully add them back to the beef fat oil. Fry for 5 to 7 minutes or until they are golden brown. Drain the french fries and place in a large bowl.

Sprinkle generously with salt and toss the fries until they are coated. Serve immediately.

Terrible over cooked fries. You also used the wrong cooking method. Learn to cook before trying to teach others.

The french fries were so much better in the 90's when it was more beef lard. Then the vegans cried so they switched to oil. Now McDonalds isn't known for their great tasting fries, just that unhealthy fast food place.

Beef Tallow Fries (original)  are perfect: and my childhood.....
There fries in modern days, are vegetarian and full of chemicals (to replicate beef flavor)
Never bought McDonald's since the late 90's
Hope they go bankrupt.... that's what Micky D's get for taking away my fries...
