Some of the photos you used sent me down a little rabbit hole, the mountains you showed looked a LOT like the mountains I grew up around. I googled it and turns out the “mountains“ I grew up in and around are significantly older than the Appalachian mountains. Guess appalachia can’t be as scary as I thought it was.

This is exactly how Appalachian horror should be told—slow, atmospheric, and respectful of the real history behind the legends. The mix of folklore and documented mysteries kept me hooked from beginning to end. Looking forward to more videos like this!

The one thing I know about all woods: you will be disappeared if you wander too far or play too fast and loose with the rules. You’ll think you know the woods, “I go here all the time and have for years” and suddenly you’re looking around and have no clue where you are. I might’ve ended up as one of these stories when I was younger if it wasn’t for the quick thinking of a friend that was lost with me.
It was summer, hot and humid, we had no water with us. It was a school trip and they let us scatter, which looking back infuriates me as an adult because we were 12 years old then- what sane person trusts a 12 year old to navigate the woods? Ones they (in most cases) were not familiar with. Thankfully we had service and were able to track the other students location with Snapchat (which is separately bizarre) and we made our way back. We were lost for 2 hours, they’d almost started looking for us when we made it back.
The wild doesn’t care about you, you are entering at your own risk. Do not over estimate your ability to find a path. I did and I’m only lucky it turned out so well. Fright of my life if I’m honest, for the few moments before we figured out what to do I genuinely wondered if a search party would even find us. I forgot about that day for a long time, but it comes back to mind when I listen to stories like this.

Crazy thing is that my mom and dad met online in the 2000s and my mom was from Newfoundland and my dad was from Virginia, right in the midst of the Appalachian mountains. I guess they were connected by the mountain range😅

Idk about with men but with women for centuries we have had prophetic dreams (I have as well) and it could be for the most minute things but if someone is desperate enough or pure of heart/the person on the other side is desperate too, I truly believe that her daughter wasn’t able to rest until justice was served. This story has been experienced and lived by many women. It’s beautifully tragic

The Greenbrier Ghost story is, honestly, one of the first “scary stories” any resident here is ever told growing up. Most of us, oddly, can recite the story by heart and my middle school (WV studies class) even on a field trip to the grave.

So they were found dead -- bound & shot... But there were "no signs that they managed to escape"... strange. 🤔
