Most of Russ's big singles from that major label album came out before the album deal. They just compiled them all to boost the numbers on the album. Honestly the label deal probably helped him get connections but it didn't do much for his career in that span he was with them. His second wind really came once he got off the deal and went crazy on Tik Tok
