I served in the US Army from 1988-93 and I remember when the Rangers wore black berets. They should've never gave RA berets. They were originally for specialized units back in the day. You had to earn them.

for MRE food. more salt you eat=the more water you will drink. the more water you drink the hungrier you will get as you release glucose form kidneys in urine. so if you eat less you will require less water and if you drink less water yo will require less food, may help in mission time and sustainability of soldier

@DropforgoodMy entire Army stint I got the shaft. First in basic training everyone was either going to the 25th infantry division in Hawaii and a few went to Germany. Two people including myself got stationed in Ft. Polk. Then whenever a Ranger position was availble, there was at least 400 or more competing just to get the opportunity. They almost made it mandatory you had to get your EIB badge (Expert Infantry Badge) just to qualifify to compete with the 400 or more. I became disenchanted real fast and realized I would never get the chance. I served in a mechanized infantry unit spent most of my time either in the field or cleaning vehicles. Glad I served and met a few great guys but morale was pretty low when I was in where there was no space for advancement or position change. When the Pananma crisis happened, they sent another battalion. When Desert Storm came, they sent another battalion. I basically did nothing but became a professional vehicle cleaner or drive the CO to where he wanted to go. It was chill but not really what I wanted.
