I enjoy this video, I use similar tools on linux. I prefer shotcut as that's what I'm used to.

In fact ham radio can add to the isolation and not the reverse as one would expect .

Just switching from shotcut on windows to kadenlive on linux mint so I can better leverage my amd gpu and because I love linux. Kadenlive does not support the amd gpu on windows out of the box but there is a fairly easy hack to enable it but am not happy with it, the Linux version has full support. And now that steam has great support for linux I can play my favorite game there and toss windows.

I got onto Gimp, Inkspace and Darktable when I ditched Adobe years ago. I used to use Audacity and dabbled in Blender but Davinci Resolve is so powerful and so well integrated that I've quit looking elsewhere. I wouldn't go back to Premier if Adobe paid me. The free version does all any YouTuber will ever need, although I grant you that "it's historically been available freely" is not the same thing as true FOSS.
@MattHeereI don't think 4k is all that important for something most people watch on a phone or tablet. I could see it making a difference on a TV, but I'm not sure its all that noticeable on small screens. At least, my eyes aren't good enough to notice the difference.
@Eli1566excellent information. I was just wondering if an video on installing nanovna saver on ubuntu could be made. it's really tricky I think. no luck so far.
@geirha75I have done all my photo manipulation projects in GIMP, it is indeed very powerful if you know what you're doing. I haven't found anything missing from it other than object selection and normal shapes drawing, but can get around it pretty easily... Affinity is now available via wine, but I default to GIMP, very used to it now.
I also use KDEnLive for all my vid projects and I do not find it lacking in any way either
And yea, I also use Blender Audacity and Inkscape when I need to.
I was already using these when on win, and it definitely helped me switch to linux without any major compromises.

Other than Blender, that's the same toolchain I use as well (and have been for as many years as I can remember).
Enjoyed this video very much. You have given me the inspiration to try my hand at video editing.
