7 kilo for me, when doing the complete Camino Frances ,travel light freeze at night 😅 synthetic over down easier to clean ,waterproof liner bag in backpack. Water bottles ,rather than platypus pouch again easier to clean. Good luck whatever you decide on.

My own pillowcase from home! I ditched the travel pillow day 2! But my travel pillowcase that I had made with a zipper closure, I now take everywhere! I kept inside everything I needed for the night -earplugs, charger, eye mask, Kindle, Advil-and then it went in the dry bag! So everything was together and my face always rested on something from home!

Did you miss shower shoes? That’s not negotiable for me a lightweight pair of flip-flops. ONLY used basically around the albergue and the shower. On one of my Camino’s I tried using my universal Teva similar to what you are showing in this video for a shower shoe shoe, big mistake takes forever to dry irritating to the skin. Best to keep those dry as possible.

I don't wear shorts or leggings regularly in my normally daily life, so they aren't coming.
So ill be taking mens elastic waistband/drawstring gym pants instead, for sleeping/town/walking.
Not as light, but I don't want to feel uncomfortable or unconfident for the journey.

Hi everyone. I'm hiking with a Deuter Flyt 20 (20 liters). It's even a bit too big for the space I need in my backpack. Your recommendation is great and meets my needs. Now for something controversial, and I'm a bit embarrassed about it: I only use one pair of merino socks for walking and don't wash them for three weeks. It seems strange, but my experience has been positive. They don't stink at all, retain their material structure, and fully protect against blisters. The merino wool content should be at least 60-70%. I use Ecco shoes and keep a pair of Ecco sandals in my backpack for evening activities. My wife uses a bit more. We both follow the principle of less is more. One last note: no trekking poles! We're over 70 and consider these things useless and inappropriate for us. Maybe because we haven't hiked the Camino Primitivo yet? 😉 Our experience is Camino Portuguese from Lisbon and Camino del Norte from Bilbao. Both highly recommended.

@alilaw3375Great little review. I leave home with about 13 lbs but my TnT back pack - Deuter Futura 26 weighs around 1400g. Ugh. However I love it. So it is hard to trust that I can find an ultra-light pack that I love just as much! (Camino #3 is coming in 2027 for me). How do I make the pack switch??!!

@FullconPark-k9rMINN — Most Important Non-Negotiable — New socks (REI SmartWool) and new (but worn a few times) shoes (Altra Olympus Trail Runners). I don't want them getting worn down the last week on the trail and I really don't want to find out on the second day that the shoes don't feel quite right.

@CorpseBriideI have Tevas for alternative shoe, at night as well. But what about in the shower? Mine have a fabric straps that don’t look like they would dry fast enough to take a shower and then go out for dinner. Plus my tevas weigh .5 kg
@GottaSayItMaybe controversial but once I come into Spain I just LOVE getting a spray can of olive oil. Yes it adds weight but it adds flavor, calories, turns that stale bread into something more edible and can be even used to spruce up a salad (or a squeaky bed 😅)
@KrulKrulSprietSprietI always bring my loose linen dress on every backpacking trip to wear after the shower. I hate trying to put fitted clothes back on after a long hike. I want something loose and flowy while I relax. And trying to put a sports bra on after the shower is a fight I struggle to win with each day on the trail
