This is misleading , most synthetic oils all the selves are Group 3 base not true synthetic ,

Group 4 PAO is hard to get and expensive. But due to a lawsuit in the 90s we have crap oil called synthetics , you can thank the idiots at Castrol for that

I've used synthetic since the 1980s. The firetruck company Pierce manufacturing would send all their trucks out with synthetic only. Their engineers knew synthetic was better, and I listened. My family has always fought for my used vehicles. If you take care of your car it can last a very long time. My hybrid car may last me for the rest of my life.

The Team that does the Research for all their Videos are skilled and thorough at what they do. There is a lot of Science in some of these videos but the Narrative for each video manages to not get long haired with the real detailed applied science behind the products or machines. They explaining how they are made or how they work at the level most people with a High School education can understand, most appreciated.

My dad was religious about documenting his mpg. He went to buy oil and they only had synthetic. He got 2 mpg better than conventional oil.

It's a little hard to imagine oil coming from natural gas! Amazing technology.

Used Arco graphite in my '76 chevette with 97kmiles. Was told it would leak horribly. Definitely didn't leak worse then it already did. Only leak at crankseal would destroy timing belt by 10k miles . Engine started better, reved faster and was quieter after 1st oil change. Changed oil every 5+K miles. Best engine I ever had till car rusted out at 200K . Used synthetic oil ever since but never mobil1.

These definitions are incorrect. Most synthetic oil (API Group IV) are poly-alpha olefins (PAO), and the main feedstock is ethylene. GTL base oils are obtained by synthesis and are API Group III base oils. There are petroleum based Group III oils as well. Purity or process doesn’t define the API definition, this is defined by the viscosity index.
The only oils that can be labeled synthetic are API Group IV.

There's a guy on Youtube who has stripped down a Mini 5 and he shows the speaker and its quite a big unit so probably other electronics in there.

For people that haven't lived long enough- I remember blowing up engines in the 70s and 80s on a regular basis on what used to be my favorite Pennzoil traditional oil. I had a guy tell me to switch to synthetic and I will never blow up an engine again. Here I am in 2025 and haven't blown up an engine since- many going over 200,000, and the car just falls apart around an engine that has had virtually no service record other than oil changes.

Well full synthetic or 100% synthetic their is a difference

I use either synthetic or semisynthetic in my engine but add one quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer to every oil change. I get another 3 miles per gallon and usually have in the high 300 to low 400 plus kilometers or in excess of 250,000 miles or more on a totally untouched gas engine.

With the use of this system, I never rebuild an engine. They just keep running. God Bless.

Why some manufacturers write in the bottles are (mineral. Semi synthetic.. synthetic… and fully synthetic) i know mineral is mineral but the synthetic and fully synthetic is different?????? Can you explain please

Nice video but still leaves unanswered questions that all of us should be asking, ie, how it is made is great but what are the differences between the many names on the bottles of syn oil that we see in all of the stores. Are there any differences in the brand names of any of the sys oils? What are those differences? Is any brand any better than another brand name? I presume because of legal responsibilities, none of these questions will ever be adequately addressed/answered. Also, do syns ever wear out? How often do they really need to be changed [in an automobile/truck, etc.]?

So universally, mineral is something derrived from nature and synthetic something that does not exist in nature and has to be synthesized/created. So NATURAL Gas, you can process it how ever you want it is still a mineral product. They call it Gas-to-liquid, well, Vodka is Gas-to-liquid, nobody calles it synthetic, right?
Same goes for conventional oil base, crude base one, yeah, you can treat it with hydrogen to even out molecules, and get... cinventional oil base with even size molecules. True, real synthetic oil is the ones based on Poly Alpha Olifins PAO and Esters. Everything else, yes, most off the shelf oils are fake synthetics. Not necessary bad motoroils, just "synthetic" label is a lie.

ordinary oil contains carbon chain like c10 to c60. By hydrogenation with suitable catalyst to make the carbon chain to same no ie the oil contain only same carbon chain numbers.
