How Minor League Baseball is Organized | Baseball Explained

Video Overview & Insights

Most fans of Major League Baseball understand the structure of Major League Baseball. But understanding Minor League Baseball can prove to be a little more difficult.

After the COVID era teams reduced to 1 A team. AAA is not 1 level below Major League ,it's closer to 2 levels .Most Minor L:eague games are more affordable plus you can watch talented players on their way up the ladder.

— @robertadams6606

In this video, I break down the basic structure of the Minor Leagues and talk about the unique qualities of each level in the system, and also clarify some of the misconceptions around Minor League players.

I don’t think MiLB has a future. MLB already dropped a lot of teams and levels. I think they hope to eventually phase out MiLB and use the NCAA as their feeder system, just like the NFL does.

Can I use this in my speech class please

So idk if this has changed since this video, but the midwest league is high A not low A. My team I grew up watching before I moved is called the Cedar Rapids Kernals and are officially classified as High A (single A) Affiliate of the Minnesota twins. This is all from the official MiLB website.

I just learned a lot from this video. Thanks big time

Is there a FA cup like english football? Imagine with so many teams fighting each other and may have massive upsets with mlb team

@TheRasyah23
@

The fact that there are so many teams feeding the mlb shows that baseball could have been a cultural cornerstone the same as soccer in many parts of the world. Would have been amazing to have a relegation system with teams strictly representing their city/town/community rather than franchised system where teams jump around cities.

@DrGodzirra
@

Do MiLB's have tournaments, championships, postseasons?

Everyone here that’s still confused is retarded

@Bargybargybargy
@

What does it mean when they say a player is "out of options"?

@kendallevans4079
@

Well, the Texas Rangers have the Frisco Rough Riders. That’s the only MiLB team that I’m familiar with.

@davidmcaninch4714

They should add expansion teams to the minors

Whats the level below minor leagues or is there or is that highschool.For a non american american sports are very hard to understand the rules can be looked up but the way the competitions are organised and what the sport is like at a local level.I know that AF and Basketball are organised on the basis of education high school and college and then pro ,but baseball is a mystery. Does every village have a baseball club or is that tied to elementary , and highschools.
Sport in europe is based on the local club in britain and ireland eachsport or multisport body has its own club and mainland europe there is one club for multiple sports.The local club operates in a pyramid usual in a district competition if they are good enough they can progress to a bigger competition and theoretically up to pro level and then onto the top divisions and a club like Man U can theoretical make a journey in the other direction,There is sport in schools however its the club thats the basis

I used to go watch minor league team called The Storm-chasers in Nebraska. They were fairly good and seats at games were often 85% filled up at least when I went. And it was a fairly good size stadium

Obviosuly the pioneer and APP league are advanced rookie levels, but I've always wondered if the Gulf Coast League and Arizona Rookie League's are a little higher level of play than the Dominican Summer league since usually a player goes from the DSL to the Gulf Coast or AZL League. They are classified as the same level.
