How the rich avoid paying taxes
Video Overview & Insights
Capital gains taxes, explained.
If you want to learn more about the US tax system, check out ProPublica's investigation into the wealth and taxes of some of the richest people in the country. They obtained IRS records of billionaires like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk that specifically show how the rich get away with paying little to no taxes.

The richest in America don't make money like most Americans. Most people pay income taxes from a regular job. But many in the top 1% make money off their investments, like stocks, and pay capital gains taxes. While normal income has a maximum tax rate of 37%, long-term capital gains tops out at just 20%. Changing that rate, and some loopholes that benefit the wealthiest, is seen as one way to tax the rich.
In my world, since nobody can earn more than 10 million in a lifetime, nobody gets more that 10 million. Confiscate the rest and redistribute it to all those who have been taken advantage of.

Don’t forget, the working people are paying 7.65% in SS/FICA. High income earners stop paying into SS/FICA after 170k. And there is zero SS/FICA taxes on capital gains.

Forget changing the tax system. Start by changing the political campaign finance system that allows billionaires and corporations to legally bribe politicians.

What bothers me the most is you see how bad we looked on the battlefield and these greedy self servers only continue to care about themselves.

Read this and learn to refute the gaslighters gaslighting: No, the top 989 billionaires do not pay more taxes in total dollars than the rest of the American population. While billionaires pay massive individual sums, the combined tax revenue collected from the other 350 million Americans is exponentially higher.

I understand stand how they avoid paying any taxes. They borrow money: your and minds, from banks against their asset value paying as low as 3.45 percent annually. As opposed to the 39.6 percent which is now 37%. Then have the nerve to call someone a freeloader. A working man like myself is funding their endeavors while they complain about us.
@randolphjohnson3486Long term capital gains is 24%
@Jm-GonzThe idea that the rich somehow pay less taxes than the poor or middle class is pure fiction. According the IRS, the top 1% own 20% of Americas wealth and pay 40% of the taxes. Meanwhile, the bottom 40% own 20% of America's wealth and they pay less then 3% of America's taxes. If his secretary earns enough to be in the 30% bracket, she is an amazingly well-paid secretary. That is the top bracket. Capital gains should be 0% because it is all money that has already been taxed.
@carlhodsdon5456Here i am bearly making 52k a year working 3 jobs yet i had to pay your repay which is $5,500 on my taxes in 2025. Which is basically 15x times more than theses rich basters including Trump who only paid less than $2.50 bucks total on all his whole taxes in 2026
@Al_loc09Thank you
@Wealthora.47I love when I hear pay complain about the rich not paying taxes (its usually directed about Musk and Trump). I laugh because firstly, they have no idea what they're talking about. They don't know how they avoid taxes yet they complain about it anyway. Secondly, they act as if they'd just voluntarily donate millions and millions of dollars per year to the frickin government out of the kindness of their hearts, if they were rich. And thirdly, they refuse to believe that Musk pays more taxes than just about anybody in America. He was the #1 highest taxed person in America in 2021.
Don't hate the player, hate the game. But also, the game is designed the way it is for a reason, not just to benefit rich people.
"If you're without a home, simply purchase a house" that woman's statement is much more understandable now 😃
@MariuszReelsspank the banks
@psycleenJust know Elon the richest man gets our money by government funding
@cynthg9547OK when he says he pays less tax than his secretary he's saying he pays a smaller percentage. He still pays way more tax.
@helium73As admirable as it is that he wants to pay more taxes. I mean how much more? Does he want to pay half his wealth? That's hard to track down considering all the work that goes into protecting it. There are so few rich people that just paying more than the middle class won't be that much. It depends on how much more and the billionaires are so few in number that even then it's unclear if it would help. Besides that we have the government middle man getting it's cut. Will anything actually trickle down to normal people? Maybe they should get out of paying taxes by creating jobs. That would actually help everyone. If the rich really want to help the little people then get rid of minimum wage so everyone can get a job. Minimum wage didn't exist before and while there used to be poor people there wasn't mass homelessness. Minimum wage creates a barrier to entry. All it does is protect skilled workers from losing their jobs. It encourages companies to hire fewer people and streamline their companies with technology. Computers have been replacing people for years but with AI it's another leap forward in firing people. But the billionaires benefit because they get a larger cut of the profits. They don't have to pay as many salaries. Minimum wage is like the gym or medicine. It's unpleasant for them at first but it pays off because they figure out how to do more with less.
@helium73Jeff needs to be forced to paid taxes
@allps3reviewThe rich will never let you vote away their wealth. The wealth of the billionaires must be expropriated by the working people or there's no chance of you seeing that lost labor value ever again.
@JacksonJohnson-h1gHow is income tax? Even a real word?
@sacapuntasfregerio4274It’s wild that working harder can mean paying more tax than owning assets.
@simplexplainedu🎶
@Markiemarktranz🎵
@MarkiemarktranzTax the stocks, if you have enough to invest in it you should be taxed on it…it’ll definitely sort itself out quickly 😂
@jasoncardoza6375The rich should pay taxes and politicians
@TylerManter-ng9xmYou should do one on how women avoid paying taxes
@billyb6001Im a working class Republican and I support our billionaires. They earned their money fairly and contribute by creating jobs. All the people whining about the economy need to work harder and stop relying on handouts.

@aloofbikerThe wealthiest 1%, earned 14% of the income and paid 35% of all individual income taxes. By comparison, the bottom 60% of all taxpayers earn 28% of all income and pay just 1% of all individual income taxes.
@Neil-i6rTax money isn't used properly anyway
@SaidJama-u2dI respect these two rich and billionaires guys trying to pay more taxes.
@junito1008It's worse than that because rich also own most of their assets via LLCs and use pre tax money to pay for helicopters or large vacation homes as businesses and deduct all the exspenseses. By far the worst thing to build wealth a person can do is have a highly paid W2 job you will pay extremely high taxes and prob need to live in a very exspensive area.
I left my highly paid W2 tech job and bought a farm and I build 3x the wealth per year and pay 60% less tax as I only pay myself a small salary and the farm LLC owns my homes and it's part of the farms exspenseses to pay for my house and truck as a fridge benefit. If I wanted to own same farm with w2 job I would need to make $400k and I pay myself $35,000.
😮
@JayInvestsOfficialGates, Buffet, Musk and Zuckerberg combined pay more taxes in a year than 1,000,000 average Americans pay!
@John-wx2ce❤
@Mika-f9mThey don't avoid paying tax, they find loopholes to pay less big diffrence
@dondavis8588I love wealthy people!
@NavcOMechanicaLLoans Aren't Taxable!
@NavcOMechanicaLGet rid of income tax and capital gains tax. Then tax the fed reserve and make retroactive going back to 1913
@bryhnsimmons2185This bug needs to be fixed vro, what are the devs doing!
@AJayyy-z8gBut if you borrow, don’t you still have to pay the loan back? Why now just take an income instead of paying a loan?
@mikeanderson1940I would like an updated version
@DustinMurrSure you can tax the rich more... but how about our government spends our taxes more effectively, efficiently, have it itemized for everyone to see, and simply stop wasting it on random stuff like, oh our department must spend all their budget in order to get more budget next year... how does that work?! or the Minnesota Somali tax fund corruption... or bailing out banks, airlines, etc... or whatabout those so called tariffs... lol... No wonder our country is in debt...
@ndwolfwood09I guess the real question here is how the rich allowed to avoid paying taxes?
@杰哥说Or just get rid of income tax altogether.
@EugeneRosenfeld❤😊
@angelaspeirs595This is a good example of how the system treats assets differently from salaries. Most people look at rates, not structure.
@MillionaireMigrantOur system is rigged. To change it you have to go through the gate keepers who are being paid by the rich to keep the status quo.
@AnonymouViewer-og5grWarren must be paying his secretary well if she’s in the highest tax bracket
