Thanks so much for all the amazing feedback and kind words 🙏🏼
Since many of you asked for advanced extensions of this template and for an integration with the Personal Budget, I spent the last year developing both a Pro version and an All-in-One template that brings everything together.

How to create Ultimate Net Worth Tracker in Excel

HI, I dont know how many requests or suggjestions you have over creating a Brokerage Account --- basically, a Ledger and a Portfolio --- I really love your youtube videos and how you explain every step --- thank you for your tutorial videos on the Budget and Net Worth. While i am still working on the Net Worth, I have just completed the Personal Budget via your YouTube Videos --- Thank You, your fan, Lucas.

— @LucasVanDuyn

This Excel tutorial shows you how to create the Net Worth Tracker template, a powerful personal finance tool for taking charge of your financial future. Designed to simplify every aspect of net worth tracking, the template lets you define custom asset and liability positions, organize them into categories, and track their end-of-month values as well as your contributions over time. With its intuitive design, this tracker provides a structured way to monitor your finances and make informed decisions.

Whether you’re starting with debt or building on an established net worth, this template is your essential companion for managing your financial journey. It helps you stay focused, set priorities, and manage risks while keeping you motivated to achieve your goals. By combining clarity and functionality, it empowers you to make smarter financial decisions with confidence.

I have been enjoying building this template. However I have reached the calculations steps for the dropdown options - Focus - Y1, Y2 and Y3. It is not showing me the latest tracked month. For reference I have changed the starting year to be 2026. I have got to the step where I need to filling continuous amounts for 4 years which would be upto 2030 for my template. But now on the calculations it setting the latest tracked month to Jan 2026 which is in turn breaking the dropdown selections in the dashboard sheet. I have it set to Strict Mode. It seems to only want to track the months of 2026 but no further.

Can someone please help?

At the heart of the template is the interactive Net Worth Dashboard, a visually stunning and dynamic tool. Built on advanced calculations, it consolidates all your tracked data to deliver clear insights into your financial performance. The dashboard lets you analyze your asset and liability composition, monitor your progress toward net worth goals (e.g. FIRE), and evaluate your overall net worth trajectory. Its innovative design sets new standards for data visualization and usability in Excel.

The tutorial covers every single step of the template creation and is an amazing training for your set of advanced Excel skills. The final template file is available for download on http://excelfind.com

For anyone looking how to fix #VALUE problem at 6:32:50 in old excel this is how I did it. The problem is in the tbl_Contribution_Category formula. Excel doesnt calculate it properly for some reason.

I created additional column in Contribution Tracking Table right next to the Position column. Renamed it as "Category". Then - I copied the formula for tbl_Contributions_Category (it starts with =IFNA(IF(tbl_Contribution[Type]... tbl_Liabilities[Liability], 0)), "")), "")) from the Name Manager for formulas and pasted it in that newly created column. Its important to copy paste the formula itself instead of just "=tbl_Contributions_Category", otherwise it wouldnt work for some magical reason. Then you should select the whole Category column and in the top left corner name it something like "tbl_Contributions_Category_Patched". After that I added mid-light gray border on the right side for the 'Position' column. Then hided H (Category) column. The only thing that is left to do is in Calculation sheet instead of multiplying (filtering) by tbl_Contributions_Categories=Q10, you multiply it by tbl_Contributions_Categories_Patched=Q10

Hi, thank you so much for your effort sharing the amazing knowledge! I’ve completed the original budget sheet two years ago and have been using it ever since. This was another banger which taught me a lot! (not only about excel but about teaching/educating as well!)

I have a few questions about using the tracker.

1. should I track my main account I.e. the account where my salary goes into&my daily expenses go out of? I keep some liquid cash there for emergencies.

2. how do you recommend I handle FX conversions? Say I moved from one country to another two years in.

Thank you in advance! I’m gonna go check out the ultimate combined version now🏃‍♀️

Hi, while creating TS Calculations, I am facing issue for =tbl_Contributions_Amount. When I use it, I get only the top value from the Amount column in 'Contributions Tracking' column. I did some debugging and I got info that before excel version 2021, =tbl_Contributions_Amount will return only top one value and not the entire range. Is this correct? If yes, is there any workaround for this? I am using MS Excel 2019 desktop version.

KPIs means?

I'm stuck at the 4:13, because at this point my formula is not deducting the negative value from the positive.

SUM function is not working properly in my Excel, so I am using =SUMPRODUCT instead of =SUM only.

=SUMPRODUCT(tbl_Contributions_Amount*(tbl_Contributions_Date<EDATE(D$6,1)))

I am using the above formula; still it's not working properly.

Please help me...

How should I be adding my student loan in the contributions? It doesn't have a corresponding asset to add so the contributions don't add up to zero like in the examples of car and IP purchase.

I really like your Ultimate Excel Net Worth Tracker and I plan to use it for personal finances and investments.
I have assets in UAH, USD, and EUR. Can I use the tracker to track multiple currencies at the same time? Are there any recommendations for handling multi-currency assets in the existing rows and dashboards without adding new rows or columns?

@valeriiamarchenko8800
@

I am currently at 8:11:05 almost finishing...

Just my 2 cents. When it comes to clean design and layout, your excel sheet is simply beautiful, absolutely amazing.
However, I don't like the way you choose to calculate this.

The networth tracking should be used to forecast revenue and expenses.
For instance, I might input a source of income of X, but actually earn more than or less than predicted.
Similarly I could input a predicted cost for an expense, but end up, expending more or less than predicted, that's why is called forecast and not actually data.

For actual data, we have the contributions as raw final product, for what actually happened.

Trying to emulate this on networth tracking, creates an absolute nightmare, of endless and needless formatting, correcting, adding, subtracting, double checking, formula creating, etc. It just doesn't make any sense to me, at all.
It's just waste time for the sake of wasting time.

I have created a much simpler solution. I started all my debts and liquid cash property in one month, then selected it as reference. Each new month will calculate the previous month.
And then add/subtract whatever values are in assets/liabilities to make a proper forecasting.

This is also the only way to use for dividends if you own a company, and is wanting to withdrawal money sparingly, like 1x per year. Applying interest is not hard to do on this format either, I can simply add the previous total value + interest. It should end almost as accurate as real compound interest. I've also created a different chart to predict next years yearly interest ratio. So it will calculate year per year automatically without needing any additional input, for a proper FORECAST in advance.

In sum, it should be simplified as networth for forecast, and contributions for actual real data. I am just doing small ranting here, cause I am following step by step, I'll have to complete many things, that later I'll have to remove or completely edit/change, because in order to use, I'd have to use networth to manually input finances growth/change. (which doesn't make sense.)

Lastly. you could have created a sort of template and made it available. At very least could've described your color scheme and these special symbols. Yes, I know I can google them and I did, but it should be included, regardless.
I had to redo the entire color pallet after I was in like 6+ hours into it, cause at start "I don't know his specific, color pallet, but it will be fine, I'll just try to be close enough" until I actually have to choose an color pallet to maintain order, which forced me to redo everything from scratch.

Don't want to sound negative, I really appreciate your effort, must have been really hard to come up with this sheet, and it's absolutely beautiful. I am just bothered that I'll have to redo, many parts of it, after completing it.

@theofficelab I need your help

@WORK-o4b
@

it took me a weekend to build that net worth tracker. I really like it. Why would you not use a pivot table for it? I guess with pivot tables you can also build it? I will now try to combine your budget tracker with the net worth tracker and also try to use your Gantt style to track my dividends. I would love for you also to build a Stock/etf tracker.

I think if you would have made one more Mortgage page in this tracker where you can see how long you have to pay off the mortgage that would also have been cool.
but it looked amazing had fun building it. Thank you.

I'm really appreciate your hard work man. It's helping me a lot for me to balance things in my life. Wish you have a Inventory Management, I currently work as a Warehouse Staff but still stuck with the Invoice, Import-Export reports there are just so many of it, 1000 products with 1000 problems, gosh, and I have to do it over and over again. I love my job but seem like it's a low hope for me. So.. I really wish that you can help me out with this one, it would be a super life-saving for me. Thank you.
