Get your facts right. The first vr coaster has been built in Europa-Park and to my knowledge it's still in operation. Not only that but they added a second one.

I think the biggest thing galaxys edge missed out on was exploiting nostalgia. One of the reasons hogsmead and diagon alley are so popular, is people can walk around the places they’ve seen dozens of times in the movies, and go into the shops they’ve always wanted. I guess the problem is there’s so many locations in Star Wars, but none are quite as beloved as hogsmead or diagon alley. I guess you could do tattoine, or maybe Naboo or the Jedi temple on corascant.

Can I ask what you were trying to spell in aurebesh on the thumbnail?
because it just says “BSTAO TRSU”
which I don’t think counts as words

Rowling is the real star here. She made this happen, the themeparks would have never done this by themselves. Let this be a lesson for all executives.

I just went to Disneyland last weekend, and walking through Carsland I really felt underwhlemed not in the sense that it looked bad but everything just felt so small in scale but going to Galaxay's Edge just felt like walking into a whole new area, it really was mind-blowing. Plus the interactive rides were honestly such a cool addition, they really went all in on the immersion.

Not really a starwars person but damn that ride looks sick. just the scale of a ride that big and complex I prefer fantasy and don't much like sci-fi but I would ride this for sure.

I know I'm like four years late and only in the introduction but it would be fair to point at that the reason Disney got cold feet is because Joanne Rowling has historically been a nightmare when it comes to creative control. One of the biggest reason she jumped ship to Universal being that she was against a lot of basic disability access that Disney is required to have. Not saying Disney is some paragon of disability rights, more that Joanne is a notably horrid person

This aged like milk, I think a new video is needed as an autopsy of what happened, especially with the star liner.

10:42 When I went on a Disney trip for my 18th birthday we got reservations here, we quickly realized that unless all of us were drinking (of attendees only one could) there was nothing available.

Listen, disneys star wars and toy story lands are awesome, like i mean awesome. I was there today.

But still they do not compare to the harry potter world at universal. Its just different. They just do it better.

Now pandora compares. I dont know if it quite competes, but man is it GOOD

Where i fault disney honestly, is their rides.

Every ride is the same now. Ratatouille, rise of the resistance, runaway rail train, toy story mania (although that one gets a pass its a little different) all those trackless systems.

Theyre cool, and well themed, but kinda boring in the end of the day. Rise of the resistance worked super well, so they dumbed it down and copy pasted it. It just doesnt work well that way.

Tron and guardians of the galaxy are what they shouldve done in those themed lands. A guardian of the galaxy ride themed to star wars wouldve been absolutely killer. Instead we got a simulator... again.

it would be cool if to get in and out of star wars land you had to take a ship just the problem is the line to get in would be cooked

Universal Studioses? Just “Universal Studio’s”

One correction, you have always been able to walk through the front of the Disneyland castle to enter Fantasyland to find the dark rides

Glad to see what the hype is about. That's certainly an innovation! I'd love a whole park with like 10 such rides for different aspects of Star Wars. It'd feel like the original Lego Star Wars, bouncing around the timeline.

i suppose one (and only one) good thing about billionaires fighting for power is the flavour of billionaires that fight to make the best theme park.
edit: 12:01 I grew up near Alton Towers and went on Galactica when it was both Air and its VR coaster. As someone who DOESN'T suffer from simulation or motion sickness (actually I've worked in VR, specialising in making experiences in it) I was blown away by how incredible and fun it was.... sadly.... every time I went SOMEONE had to fucking throw up.
Turns out, many people who THINK they don't suffer from motion sickness actually do. They just don't suffer with it when what they see matches up perfectly with what they feel. Which there will always be a few microseconds of delay between your movement and VR visual feed.
I was GUTTED when they removed the VR from Galactica. Still makes me a little pissed to this day, just take off the headset if you feel sick, dumb dumb.

Say what you want about JK Rowling as a person but I can give her credit that she KNOWS how to deal with a franchise and it's rights.

I'm so glad I rode that ride before I ever saw this video.
If you haven't yet gone on Rise of the Resistance and are planning on going there, don't watch this video yet. It's SO MUCH BETTER to go in blind.

Great channel, but insanely reddit coded lol. Please dont be a disney adult, for you and your families sake.

I'll save people time and explain the design: Don't provide exits, wall people in, force people to tour and pass by as many rides as possible. Same logic as shopping malls, nothing different.

I fkn hate Disney but I got pulled aside and interrogated by Storm Troopers at Galaxy's Edge and I almost cried I was so excited. They nailed the vibe with the layout and structures, it reminds me a lot of Morocco in Epcot. You can get into the back streets in that area and totally forget you're in a theme park.

One of the big reasons why the Disney/Rowling agreement fell through is because she didn’t want to make thing wheelchair accessible and didn’t care about the safety and comfort of cast members.

The worst part of Disney's Star Wars land is that it is based on the horrible last three Abrams movies.

Sorry for a dislike but the forcefully positive aggressively apolitical tone (especially around likes of Rowling and Iger) of this video made it sound like an extended ad read, and I hope to punish YouTube algorithm for recommending it to me. I appreciate insight into park and ride design like Pay-offs, and Wow-factor, but this is for different kind of genre of audience than me.

I loved this area so much it got me into Star Wars. Disney is taking my money so much. I’ve done Star Wars nite, I’ve gotten a lightsaber form them, I go to Disney to just… hang out in Galaxy’s edge
