Yeah, you had fewer things to do, so you just did what you wanted to. It felt less like a list of things to do, and more freedom

I've got a similar thing going on with Minecraft, but they're rather extreme challenge runs; I absolutely LOVE The Void Biome, because the Overworld is entirely made up of Stone, not even a piece of Dirt can be found ever, but Strongholds do exist, so I'm forced to find one which is part of the challenge, and I've got very limited resources to work with, they can only be found in the Nether and the End and so Blackstone, Crimson & Warped Wood serve as decent alternatives.

It's less overwhelming since I don't have too much to do as a result, only working towards some Advancements.

The generation of Buffet Worlds however has been ruined by 1.18, so I only play in earlier versions, even 21w13a would use the most of its height (384 Blocks) and I find them to be much more interesting that Modern.

One thing I've learned is how much some company can completely change how the game is played. Whether you have some good friends in a server or some anthropomorphized pumpkins, some sort of community can act as a catalyst to what you do in your world <3

In two days I will be 25 years old, as a child I didn't know about the existence of Roblox or Minecraft, so well, I look at it more from a fresh perspective than out of nostalgia, I like the new versions and sometimes they lead to funny situations, the only thing I don't like is when dogs/cats teleport in front of your face and give you jumpscares

i have been building in my own style since 2013, most of my homes are blocky because i like blocky buildings. My Houses are mostly Blocky and made out of the simplest materials like Oak Logs, Oak Planks and Cobblestone. Most of the time i use Oak Planks as Paths. I even build own buildings for Pigs, Sheeps, Cows and Chickens (they are all mostly blocky too). The Most amount of worlds i created is 8... i only have 8 Worlds since 2013. Sure i could easily build better looking Barns, Houses and Towers but i dont want to, i like it to be simple. Sure my friends now build in that modern style on our private smp server but my buildings constantly stand out because they are simple and made the way i want it not how someone else says how to do it.

When I was younger, I did not have a phone and had a very big creativity but now when I have a phone: my creativity is gone or how I feel like it is.

This video made me realise it doesn't matter how ugly your builds are or that you don't got cool shaders. You should always be happy about what you have created.

This is also why when people return to play Minecraft again they have a “Two-week phase”

I just love building. I’ve played for years. Since I was in high school and I’m 27. Tbh the only reason I go to the nether is to get materials for my builds 😂😂 rn I’m adding the eye of Sauron to my world 😋

The world generation is also way more interesting than modern versions, now its just smooth hills and flat areas, back then it was crazy mountains and floating islands with trees growing on them.

@NotEvenARealAnimation

wow this reminds me of my first pocket edition world from like 2012 when the world limit was super small and mine only had a single water source block in one of the corners that i accidentally placed a block over... but i still played because at lease i still had more features than the Lite version of the game which i was playing before

Skill issue. My world is not boring. It's vibrant and alive and fun to explore. Nearly 4k days played, huge interconnected builds, villagers and copper golems sprinkled throughout 12 level 1 maps to add a some action and life and sounds. Small builds, set pieces, large builds terra formed to suite builds and add texture to anyone exploring it.

I'm sorry you're running into boring world issues.

I’ve been playing since I was 10 in 2018 and literally never beat the ender dragon

Omg I was always so bad at the game

The first time I played either my litttle brother he ended up getting a lot of iron and I just remember I got stuck in this cave and I thought stone was water and I couldn’t find my way out 😭

I ended up quitting but after a week I made a new world and genuinely had no idea what I was doing but I built a house and got a dog and I had the best time playing in it. Eventually as i grew up I became better and attempted to beat the game during Covid but it never worked

Now it’s the summer before my senior year and I’m playing again just for fun and I’m having the best time

Ik I’m not an “og” but I thought share :)

When I started playing this game, water didn't flow.
I miss that feeling of discovery it still gave me.

@OWazabi
@

If people didn’t make it a challenge or a game necessary to beat, it should be a game to share with friends and make memories or just play by yourself and be creative

I don't like the hunger BS later minecraft introduced. The peaceful style world exploration and building with survival at night, is what Minecraft means to me.

Sometimes to keep myself engaged in Minecraft is using 1 by 1 strip mining using a water bucket or a trap door, it gives the illusion of being in a real life cave. I also use unconventional blocks in builds, blast furnace floors, mixing together Dark Oak and Cartography tables, Birch & Fletching Tables or using stairs & wall mixed into stone type builds creating small holes in the walls depending on placement. Or turning off redstone torches with levers to create abandoned buildings. Hope these suggestions help.

@psychegemstone

I love the make minecraft worlds ugly again initiative, it actually feels like I can just place blocks like random legos at a thrift store instead of building with the same medieval gradient build style,

@AstroGamer152
@

i've been playing on an aternos server with some online friends, and that has probably been the best way i could relive the old charm of playing legacy console minecraft with my school friends. we've all been just building our own stuff, adding random bits of lore here and there (unironically, let yourself roleplay a little, even in singleplayer. making lore for your minecraft world is fun)

on that server, i live on a little island by myself, and i've been steadily adding various structures there. whatever comes to mind, i'll make it. i have my house, my double-decker farms, and my storage tower with fire and lava at the top. i even made a flag for my "nation" and dubbed it Soda Island. it's all super random but it's very enjoyable to just let myself build whatever i come up with

@vapolemon
@

I would keep building ugly things, it gives me joy and nostalgia, let’s push the make Minecraft worlds ugly again movement.

@NoahDean-ye2jp
@

I have found a way to make the newer minecraft feel like old minecraft is that I limit myself I see what blocks and material is arond me and make house and other builds based on. Like in one of my world I made my house made of stuff from the nether because there was a nearly completed portal near spawn.

Ive played Minecraft since it's came out after covid and the deep slate integration , it hasn't been the same maybe bc I'm ab to be 21 , or more like i can't recrate those memories because there not much of a player base that can get pass the two week phase and if they are there all on java , I have a world I lost well i have but its weird i have the file on PS bedrock and ive been trying to find a way to save it for years and I won't give up until I find a way maybe that's why I can't enjoy any other worlds I make bc that's my forever world and if anyone sees this and is some kind of developer or can save data or create half data and help me will be greatly appreciate even though its a console world I'm just trying to get it to my pc to save , but my long term mc journey ended when that world was half way lost , if anyone can help discord is little_skies12

Its always weird how people completely ignore the artstyle and atmsphere change. No honey, liking a different artstyle and atmosphere is not nostalgia glasses.
And also the world generation change.
People saying modern minecraft is the same arent just ignorant, they also disregard all the work mojang put into it.

@DjinnsHome

I like the PS Vita port, it was made at a time when Minecraft was still pretty small but it had a lot of the nice modern stuff, a beautiful time capsule that is also portable.

i feel left out
guys how is it that you all feel like the intro describes
while i never felt like minecraft is lesser than it was

it's just diffrent
it stopped feeling lonely in any world you play
because it's just more lively

but that's about it
nothing else is diffrent

2:54 EXACTLY i have no clue how people find it better
i've been playing on that version too
i am one of the og players that played back in 2010

3:40 ohhhh, i get it now
thank you very much

4:30 sure did, and i always wanted new stuff in that sandbox cause the luck of materials was really downing what i can do
so i incorporated stone and sticks in to it

4:53 i wish this was what i had back then
clay is so much better than sand

5:00 now that changes the whole conversation
you had friends xd

5:26 hell yeah, lego are way better than sand
you do what you can with what you have and if you really miss some parts you buy parts that you're missing
such an amazing experience

7:20 yep, that's exactly what i do in modern minecraft
i build stuff however i feel like it
with some thinking in between

7:50 so you're saying others don't do that? fascinating

9:05 no... i have no clue, there are people who do that?

alrighty then, i'm just fundamentally diffrent than everyone else
i love getting new items to get creative with
i love using them and incorporating with my 10 year old builds
updating my old buildings once in a while is awesome
or if i feel like living them behind, i turn them in to some kind of ancient ruin and sometimes build on top of them
it really adds in to the history

a while back i even started making signs with dates when i complete and start building things

I literally built so much as a kid I'd get sick of my world and how crappy it was compared to YT's lol 😂😂

@a1uplift212

I started a world with a friend I met online. We've only had it for about 2 weeks or so, but it's already one of my favorite worlds ever. We found a nice, small cave with a ravine-like entrance and settled there. We have yet to build a single thing above ground. Our house is a kind of oval shape with a double bed with a canopy on one wall and nothing else. Our main area has a nether portal, some furnaces, a crafting table, and a fence around some water on a hill we use to get out. I brought a few animals down from above and named them all (a chicken and 2 chicks, a pig, a sheep, and a horse)

We have a tiny farm carved out from that and the way to get to our house in 1 block wide and 3 blocks tall. We needed paper for books, so we grabbed some materials and made a sugarcane farm right then. We didn't look up a tutorial for the "best sugarcane farm" just built a simple, basic, and small one that gets us what we need. I wanted to build a horse race track, so I dug out a hall way and started carving a giant room to the left (still not done)

While making the hallway, I thought it would be nice to turn it into a trading hall, so I grabbed some villagers the next day and shoved a few into some holes in the wall. It doesn't look good, but it works.

Point is, we focus on having fun and making things work, rather than building the perfect version of everything and worrying about how things look.
