I've been trying to learn German but its been off and on for like a year and a half. At this point its frustrating because I can't really use it in my day-to-day life and so I feel stuck in place.

I am not rushing through my first two levels, my teacher is, and with that problem I am lagging behind, and he doesn't have a clear structure or order or even notes to refer to, and I can't ask him doubts too, because he finds ways to frame it as your fault, and he is also my school teacher, so I am stuck with self learning.

Hi Max, you say your course is specifically for people who want to study in Germany. Would it still work for me if I just recently moved to Switzerland? I would like to learn a good understanding (up to B1 level at least) of High-German before transitioning to Swiss-German. Thank you

Hey everyone, ich bin Deutsch lernen mit Goethe-Institut, and i'm currently studying for my final exams with highschool, and im wondering if there is a platform where i can make quizzes and things to do as little study "side quests" so i dont forget as much while i shift my focus to school. Im already listening to podcasts and music in German in the background, but i think i should be doing more.

I was C1 35 years ago. I went to gymnasium in Hannover and started college German at 1st semester 4th year my freshman year and tested out of the 2nd semester. I am finding it difficult to find the right program to get back to proficiency . This is so odd becasue I also went to school in France and when I go visit it all comes back in 2 days.

Just as you learn your own language, you will also learn German just like that. Ask yourself, what German 5 years old kid is going to language school to learn German? Don't listen to these fools who keep recommending you school and grammar. That's BS. What do you like to talk about? I don't know, maybe football, right. Than pick a nice 1 hour football video in German, one that people speak a lot like a documentary or comedy show. It has to be enjoyable to you. So listen to that shit all day when you wake up and all night before you go to sleep, until you feel you have memorized all phrases in the video. Now , buy a 100 to 200 pág German book about football, right? Read the same book 10 times until you know what all the words in the book mean, by that time you are already fluent, keep rereading it and now buy a notebook and start writing down the book, remember you already know what the football book is all about. Write one page per day, it's like 15 minutes of pure german football fun: one video and one book all by yourself in your country without setting a foot in Germany. Of course on your daily life put your phone and laptop to German , move your YouTube location to Germany and consume your news in German news via internet radio. Bingo! Zero dollars spent on useless language school. Listen to me, I speak 5 languages I have never set a foot in country that speak English, I have been to France for 5 days , I have been to Spain for 2 weeks , yet I am fluent in French , English, Spanish , Portuguese and German which I am now B2 and still, I don't give a fuck about these letter's level because they are nonsense invented by corporation to recrute foreigners. There are many British people that don't know how to form a sentence in passive voice and you are here studying grammar ? Fuck you. When it's time for you to know grammar you do like everyone else , open the damn dictionary or better yet open the all might GOOGLE, better yet let the native correct you. How? Do you ask! Go on German date sites, like Omegle. NICE. Two birds one stone. German girls and boys like fossball too, right? The only grammar you need to study is suduko.

I lived in Germany when I was a child and had a German class every day in school. I can still count, sing German songs and still know all the words, know the days of the week and months of the year. In high school, I took a Conversational German class, so I can get around...and when we went to Germany again in 2004, I could understand what people were asking auf Deutch...but was hesitant to reply in German. I feel confident that I am fully A1, and partially A2. I need to brush up on conversional skills. My pronunciation is good. At several points of my life, I fully dreamed in German.

I rhink, for me, that scripts that I've written and translated for conversations would be helpful...shopping, for example. We have a German bakery at home, and if I were to write out a conversation ordering things (alomg with possible responses), I think I would feel much more confident.
